Play AA and AK hard preflop. You want to play a big pot, espacially with the rockets.
I agree about golden rule However I rather slowplay AA than push it (of course if there were no raises before). But I would reccomend you to take a look at the first part of shokaku's post when you think what to do with AA

Golden rule: if you are looking for a golden rule in poker then you should play another game. The rule is that there is no rule: every two card can win.

My Rule no. 1
Never go broke in an unraised pot.
Stolen from T.J. Cloutier
That might be, in a world of clever people it's hard to say something clever without it being said before. Never read anything from TJ but I guess other players took it in as well.
------------ Rule 2.
Never fold a flopped set for 100BB (never say never I know did it anyway)

Posted by gerrypolt: my golden rule that i break often is dont loss patients and dont force play. thats what i try and keep to but usaully fail. im my own worst enemy
totally agree with this one bad beat and i go on tilt when if you keep your head you can easily build your stack up
my one rule i try to follow is not to limp into the pot unless someone else has done before you, first to the pot pre flop RAISE or fold

What Ive noticed on fulltilt low limit nl tables, ppl play mostly very aggressive poker on fridays/saturday evenings (surprise ) Just wait there then for good hands and wash them out. That works for me. Normal nights I just play loose and aggressive poker when ppl like mostly to fold and wait AAs

i have made for myself this rule ... stay calm , stay focus and don't call when i am not ready to go all in with my cards ... the only thing is that it actually work and that i am able to make a stak but that i can not keep on playing that way because i love to take a risk to much and sometimes it is a risk to much ... wit AA i prefer to raise 4 - 5 times the BB and see what the flop brings before going all in ...

i've been playing for several years now, and I can say from my little xperience that's if I keep my cool and wait for a good hand, I ALWAYS win - I mean get to the 1st place. And try not to think about how much is at stake, I loose my concentration and start being nervous...not good.
