Ohhh were to start........
i started playing online poker approx 5 years ago, i had a knowledge of poker before but not played for $$.
I played my own sort of "hope to hit" stratergy but lost a lot till i started realy loving the game and read some basic stratergy to try and build a bankroll, ive had some reasonable success (cashed out of a few sites, brought some nice things with the winnings)
But for the last 6-8 months i cant do a thing no good cashs no good cash outs, my poker love is starting to grind me down, i used to realy look forward to playing but now i start wondering "how will i be disappointed tonight"....... this i know can not be right.. So ive decided to take some time off but how will i know when to come back? Confused One of my pals says i need to be out of it for atleast 3 months to get my hunger back and realy want to play again....?
That seems a long long long way away.....
Has anyone here had to do the same??
How long did you take out..???
Any thoughts / advice welcome.........

Your pal is right. Take some time off. Doesn't need to be 3 month, but a few weeks away from the game should help. Start playing when you feel confident again.

Been there done that... My break lasted for about a year actually.... Of course, I did play a tourney once in a while, but it was really nice to take a long break as I did... I am starting to get the feel back, and I am enjoying the game A LOT more now.

I will definately not play as much as I did before though, and I think I really needed the re-think I did...

Every time you have a downswing it sucks, you feel you cant win, cards never hit, sometimes you change ur game and losing even more.
I had 2/3 littl downstreaks so a big one didnt really hit me yet.
Inever took a day off just went on playing.

Ur story is diffirent, ur downstreak problably bigger so take 1 week off, keep ur head off at poker, do other things, nice things.

Hope ur running better after this mate, have faith Smile

Take a break is the right choice, but for how long? I don't know, it depends on you if it's a long break, keep reading the news and hopefully you find an interesting sign up or no deposit bonus which can give you hunger to play and win Dollar Dollar Dollar as much as you can.

You got in to the free play habbit id say, now playing for real money ppl take it a bit more serious.
The luck elliment has gone down, you willingness to play a hand may have changed, hit and hope is not a good way to play, if you feel you will be dissapointed when you play then you are just wating for that hand to waste all your money on.
Time out is good but reflection is better, why did/do you lose? If you come back playing the same do you think you will be a winner?
You have to lose money to find were you go wrong, but if you lose and dont find out why you will stay a loser.
