two thats it i have played 5 before timing each so i have a couple of seconds to think but you lose track of which table is which when play slows down and i find you cant keep track of players but i suspose thats where poker software comes in. Kinda defeats the purpose though.

Playing four at once is quite easy imo but you would expect your ability to play well to decrease. You would have to play tighter not playing as many hands and would not be able to take notice of your opponents therefore not knowing if they are tight/aggressive. I usually only multi-table so many when I play freerolls I have less interest in. But I play two tables most of the time, especially if I want to clear a bonus.
If you were talking to this guy at the table its unlikely he was playing 18 tables at once. He wouldn't have time to chat and wouldn't be able to concentrate on a conversation. But it is possible to play as many tables. I've seen it done. I wouldn't expect them to earn much profit per table though.

I have sometimes played almost 20 tables, mostly they were double or nothing tournaments. It is not that hard, because you have to play tight, so you will be folding almost all of the hands.

18 is possible but not for me, ive seen a pal do it thou it did seem a bit hectic. he had 2 screens and a splitter to use 1 mouse. i only ever go as high as 6 tables all open tables during bonus points hours (double points)
I play 4 max at Full Tilt and I love it because I'm doing very good, I choose to "tile" the tables so it's not that complicated to play and the concentration is quite pretty the same as you're playing at 1 table if you see what I mean.

Lol once i tried to play something like 6 sngs at the same time. But surprisingly lost all of them, best rank was 5 i think. Now i only play 1 or 2 sngs same time + one cash table.

I find I can play 4 at the most. Sometimes I will play 2 SNGs and 2 Cash games (i find cash games require too much folding to stay interested without calling with marginal hands to alleviate the boredom so I play some SNGs, too). The problem then is that it's hard to keep track of what strategy you ought to be playing on which tables which sometimes has a negative effect.

I play 8 with 2 monitors so I have 4 on each monitor. When u can c each table in front of u it's not that hard. You get more good hands and you can play way tighter game. If you play aggressive and you play a lot of hands then it gets harder to multi table.
