WSOP Event #16: Final Table Set   0
Day 2 of the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event broke a few rules just to get the final table set. The chip leader Jeff Lisandro and seven other players will return for Day 3 to determine the winner.

The $1,500 Seven Card Stud event reached Day 2 with 97 players still in the race for the title. Some of the pros who made it through Day 1 include John Juanda, Jason Mercier, Eli Elezra and others. David Levi was at the top of the leaderboard with 49,600 chops but with competition close behind, his day wasn't going to be any easier than for the rest of the players.

Michael Mizrachi and Eli Elezra hit the rail not long before the bubble had been reached. Craig Kaufman was trying to limp into the money with his 1,500 chips but the antes stole away his chips, 300 each round, and finally his last chips went in - pocket deuces were all he had but they weren't enough to beat Eric Friedman's straight.

With the struggle to end in the money behind them, the remaining players now had to struggle to reach the final table. Many notable names were seen packing their bags, such as Jason Mercier who busted out in 16th and Mike Rocco who left in 12th place. Rocco won the 2008 $1,500 Seven Card Stud event, but apparently he wasn't going to get a chance to repeat his success, at least until next year.

The tournament was reaching its scheduled end for the day, but with one player away from the final table, it was decided that the Rue 96 would be overlooked and the play would go on until the field was down to 8 players. Rule 96 states that no Day 2 will be required to play past 3 a.m. unless Day 3 is scheduled to be broadcast on television or the internet.

Thor Hansen was the misfortunate final table bubble boy and with him out of the way, everything was set for the final table. Here are the remaining players and their chip stacks:

Lisandro took it down. Heads up he beats Rod Parley, who has won two braceletts in seven card Stud in the 90s himself. In the last hand Lisandro hit a flush, when he started with three diamonds.
