Well you were behind on the flop - you opponent was a 55%-45% favourite. He has 15 outs twice and even if you have a set he has 12 outs twice and is only a slight dog.
Did you make a mistake - well that depends.
If you both had a 12BB stack or less your play was fine - although some would push pre flop
If you were deep(er) stacked 40BB+ then yes you made a mistake - why shove your whole stack when the chances of been called with a worse hand was virtually nowt. Also if he has you beat then you need to give yourself a chance not to go broke.
In the 12-40BB range then your probably going broke here anyway but I would never open shove the flop. You're probably ahead so make a series of 2/3 smaller bets to ensure that you get called by his marginal holdings and to give your continuation bets some credibility in future hands.
Incidentally if you raise to 3BB pre flop, bet 6BB on the flop, then 18BBon the turn where your now a significant favourite then there is every chance he'll fold because with only one card to come he probably hasn't got the odds ( implied or pot odds ) to make the call.
