Record Breaking Tournament at PokerStars.com

Tags: Guinness Book of World Records, PokerStars.

PokerStars are constantly looking for new ways to establish themselves as the best poker tournament site on the internet. They have now decided to make an attempt to get into the Guinness Book of Records with their $500 000 guaranteed tournament that can cater for 35 000 players. The buy in for this tournament is only $10+1 so even if this tournament should fill up there will be a $150 000 overlay in the prize pool which is pretty great.

This tournament will be played on Sunday the 28th of December at 21:30 CET and you can find it in the tournament lobby under the tab "Special Tournaments".

This tournament already has 5000 players registered at the time of writing so if you want to make sure you get a spot in this tourney you will probably need to register before the 28th of December because chances are that it will fill up before that.

The structure of this tournament is very good as you will have a $3000 starting stack and it is going to be played with 10 minute levels with 10 players at the tables. The winner of this tourney is going to get $30 000 and there are going to be 8750 prizes paid.

BankrollMob offers 100% up to $50 deposit bonus for PokerStars

Some month ago I was playing a a Freeroll on Party with 6200 players and was winning. 14,50$ LoL

There must be a topic and some screenshots in this forum from me Big Smile

I was playing about 6 hours....

With so many Players on Stars they must play 2-3 days...

Nothing for me...

2-3 days? Shock that would be another record hehe.
i remember my first freeroll ever on cdpoker. i played it while waitin for my no deposit.
compared to other freerolls there were only 1000 players. it took nearly 6hours.

oh..i got to rank 7 and won $0,92 Big Smile well that was the first time i ever played for money and i was proud of me Smile

Currently have 23k enrolled, looks like they should hit the 35k, It wont take days just 10hrs.......so put the kettle comp, cook ya tea the night befor and your all set, lap top users get the benafit of going the toilet whilst not missing a hand :}
 irishkeltt26/12/2008 21:29:22 GMT
i agree with bigfoot Tongue i got a laptop and cant wait for this game, little chance of winning but at the end of the day it all boils down to luck on the day....

it would be sweet even placing a tournament of this size.. ya think the pot wuld be bigger tho maybe because its pokerstars and there getting all the advertisement and guinness book of records over it they would sponsor a % more than the money we pay in...

The way i cost 10+1 every 1 should go to pot not to them.... or at least every .50.... build the pot up if they hit over the 500k cause i think the way its goin they will get lot more than 35k ppl

Well, just been playing the 10k sngs at PS, and its full of donks, so have withdrawn from the 35k, its a game of roulette, you can handle a few donks, but its unreal, id say about 70% are donks.(all in with AA any pos you will get atleast 2 callers, normally 4-5)
Not just me but the outher good players are getting called and raised etc with absolute crap, some hit some miss but never fold, but it aint poker at all, not going to sit for 5-6etc hours to get done by a donk.
And the real shame is that some of them think they are playing a good game,
The 35k is going to be a real joke, im out..

Those tourneys are called donkaments for a reason. Smile
 B1gfoot27/12/2008 16:20:01 GMT
Yep Agree , but the donkfactor has gone up so much they now belive they are playing well, i was down to around 2k players and atleast half of them donked the way, and stilll donking.
I started to think i was lucky when my FH(js/10s) held against 2 6 (true story)
 GeneYuss27/12/2008 18:44:29 GMT
I think the best way to play against donks is see flop cheaply and get the money when you're good.

35k players already, I wasn't sure if I wanted to play it but I guess I have no choice now lol. I will get reload bonus though.

you would want to be commited and have your diary freed up, it"ll go for ever but i suppose someone has to win in the end, it wont be me though.
 cyclonisz228/12/2008 12:35:19 GMT

 Calmplay30/12/2008 21:01:13 GMT
The tourney I think last only for 9 hours, damn was expecting it lasting much more there. Anyway I think the winners had a hot experience of VERY big field poker Smile
 joulukinkku02/01/2009 22:02:07 GMT
unbelievable... thats crazy. How can you play so long???Pokerstars is quite crazy site I think...
 sanyka05/01/2009 14:31:33 GMT
It will last too many hours, but winner will be the most lucky guy in the world, 1 of the 35K players!

"Its $35,000 in winnings for pokerstars for the 1$ entry fee....good technic"
First of all every poker site has tourney fees its how they make money from them and u act surprised and second theres 35k max players only 10$ per person thats 350k$ total 500k$ guaranteed! so 150k$ extra put into the pot minus the fees 115k$ extra! if the tourney totally filled up!
 mcsnakey76513/01/2009 13:09:11 GMT
to many people in tourney gets frustrating it ridicules now they should put like 100 people limit on all freerolls
 Moogly25/01/2009 23:51:46 GMT
the winner should very happy to won that! very nice prize
 Marclor26/01/2009 00:40:06 GMT
it might last very very long heh.. but this is the kind of tourney that is defenitely worth it with the huge prize overlay
 xxxbchxxx31/01/2009 04:30:22 GMT
35,000 to 1 i love those odds
