2009 World Championship of Online Poker has now come to an end as its last and most prestige full event has been played - The Main Event with a $10,000,000 guarantee. The Main Event of WCOOP started last Sunday. 2144 players signed up for the tournament by paying the buy-in of $5200, or winning a seat through one of many Main Event satellites. Out of those 2144 players, 178 made it to Day 2 of the tournament that was played yesterday (Monday).
As Day 2 of the tournament started, player after player were sent packing. After many hours of poker, 178 players had suddently became 9 players. It was these 9 players (7 Americans, 1 Norwegian, 1 Dutch) who were about to take on the last fight for the WCOOP Main Event title and the first prize of $1,715,200. Yevgeniy "Jovial Gent" Timoshenko, was one of the players with most chips as the final table began. He had played really great poker during Day 2 of and the tournament and built up a big stack. Thanks to his fearless way of playing poker on the final table he was the one who took the command almost straight away, and also ended up being the last man standing. For the win he received the first prize of $1,715,200 (probably one of the biggest winnings ever in an online poker tournament?).
