PokerStars: WCOOP bigger than Wimledon and the PGA tour

PokerStars 'World Championship of Online Poker' is just getting bigger and bigger every year since it started 7 years ago. In this years WCOOP not less than $40,000,000 is guaranteed in 45 events. Not many poker sites in the world other than PokerStars could guarantee these enormous amounts of money within the short time that WCOOP has been running.

Neither the PGA Tour or the ATP-tours biggest tournament 'Wimbledon' comes even close those to these kinds of prize pools. Since the first WCOOP was played, the total prize pool has grown with around 6000%, and probably it will continue increase in future WCOOP tournaments.

I really dont know if this is good or bad. I mean its nice that poker is getting bigger every year, but i think this will bring some problems which have already started like online poker legislation. As more money start to move online poker, more problems we will have with cash outs and taxes.

You can't compare prizepools from Wimbledon or the PGA with those of the WCOOP.

$40,000,000 over 65 events.

Wimbledon is around $22,000,000 over 1 event

Average PGA event prizepool is $1,700,000, which far exceed the average prizepool for the WCOOP

------------
I meant $40,000,000 over 45 events

When the number of players in a certain game grow, its prize also tend to grow. It happens in every games. look at Euromillions: once they give the oportunity for every adult citizen from all Europe (27 countries) to participate, the prize tends to be huge too, thats why sometimes it comes to be 100 million euros. But i just hope that WCOOP also grows, its a sign that poker continues to develop world wide.
