Every month, the sports site ESPN writes a column on their website called "The Nuts" where they list who they think the top 10 poker players in the world are at the moment. If one look back at previous months of "The Nuts", it stands clear that Phil Ivey is the big favorite (maybe not such a big surprise to anyone?). Anyhow, here are the top 10 players+comments for February 2010
1. Phil Ivey
He's now on top of the all-time tournament earnings leaderboard. Get comfy, Phil; you're going to be there for a while.
2. Patrik Antonius
Still one of the best players in the game and a constant fixture in the largest cash games in the world.
3. Jason Mercier
His drive to win and his willingness to go any- and everywhere and play any- and everything continues to serve him well.
4. Daniel Negreanu
Although we don't see him in the middle of the huge cash games much, he still has proved himself in all forms of poker.
5. Eric Baldwin
After winning Card Player's Player of the Year, Baldwin took a couple of weeks away from the felt and is ready to hit the circuit starting at the LAPC
6. Yevgeniy Timoshenko
He is a player who can travel the circuit full time and still find time to be a profitable online player.
7. Daniel Alaei
Two titles in 2009 and a threat in no-limit cash games, Alaei might be the most underappreciated player on this list.
8. Tom Dwan
He's unproven in terms of the long haul, but his raw poker ability is uncanny
9. Bertrand Grospellier
Just when I'm about to take him out of my top 10, he makes another final table.
10. Jeffrey Lisandro
As people were starting to push the memory of his triple bracelet performance to the back of their minds, he reminded them that he's still among the best stud tournament players in the world.
