Congratulations to James Mitchell who took home the Main Event of Irish Poker Open yesterday. It was maybe not the most well-deserved wins ever, but one must remember that Mitchell had played great poker throughout the tournament and that luck is part of the game sometimes.
Anyhow, when the final table was down to heads up between between James Mitchell and Paul Carr, their poker nerves were really put to the test as the 1st place prize paid almost the double.
Both players had even stacks in the beginning of the heads up and it was Paul Carr who played the best poker. But unfortunately Carr didn't have the poker gods on his side this time and after about 2 hours play James Mitchell had control over the game and was in a big chip lead. Paul Carr was at this point forced to push all in and try his luck to stay in the game. It worked a few times, but then everything came to an end as Mitchell flopped 2 pairs.
