Tony G about Phil Hellmuth: "He's mentally unstable and needs professional help"

Tags: fight, high stakes, interview, phil hellmuth, tony g.
Posted on 13 September 2010 by "T".

It's not a secret that Phil Hellmuth has a big problem with his temper when playing poker. Even though Phil has a huge bankroll and probably seen it all when it comes to bad beats, he still can't control his feelings after so many years of experience. For quite some time now many of the world's best poker players have been trying to help Phil (in many different ways) to deal with his temper - but most of them have given up. Tony G, however, refuses to give up and in a recent video interview he said the following about his dear friend Phil Hellmuth.

"Phil is a very nice person away from the poker table. But at the poker table he's mentally unstable and needs professional help", Tony G told the interviewer.

"He has gotten one of those headshrinkers to help him now, and I also try to help him. One just feel like taking care of Phil. I lead him, just like my dog.

Funny.. Big Smile

But as for Tony G, I think he needs some help as well. Confused
There's a video on Youtube where he is being a real ASS to some Russian guy. Unbelievable!
Really not acceptable IMO.

Tony G is my favirot player off all time, you just know if he is at the table there its going to be a good game to watch.
We all jump on phil but he is still one of the greats, we all love hating him due to the way he acts, and its not just for show thats why I love him too, but like him more when gets sucked out. cant wait to see them play at IPPA Championship.

When Tony G wins 9 WSOP bracelets playing Holdem, then he has the right to have a pop at Hellmuth..

Until then he should keep his mouth firmly shut.

He is not having a go at his game its his mental state, what your saying is a bit like no one can call Stu-Unger a druggy etc because he is a great player.
If you read the blog he does big Phil up, but all this is in jest, Tony is just having fun.

omg , what a BS all together, Phil H. was creating and now taking care of his image, nothing else. For some, Poker is just a game, for Hellmuth it is just a show...
 MartinR30/09/2010 16:36:58 GMT
Well, actually he has been diagnosed as bipolar disorder, which he admits. Still, that doesn't mean he can't play top poker, more over, in his hipomaniac moments he may be MORE alert thanks to his disease. That is a topic apart which involves controversy and tons of psychiatric stuff. He is also said to have been troubles with steroids which he may have taken or given by friends in moments of depression.

I thought "The Mouth" was Mike Matusow but, after that, we can consider Tony G a candidate to supply him.

lmao
im sure there gonna be fireworks next time these two meet on a table. but helmuth is sure fun to watch playing and i wudna want him to change.
 MANUEDO26/10/2010 15:24:06 GMT
Really funny, seems he's talking watching himself on a mirror. Big Smile Tony's G complains are ever a show. It will be very interesting to know what Phil will answer to him.

Il bue che dice cornuto all'asino ....
