Not less than 1,313 players ended up participating in the $3,5k main event of WPT Borgata Poker Open, which started 2 days ago, making it the largest tournament in WPT history. Now, both Day 1a and b are already in the books and Day 2 will start in a few hours.

Chip leader is Abe Korotkl with 260,100 chips, and in second place is no one else than Jeff Madsen with 216,925 chips (more info about him below). There are quite a few players with plenty of chips so, of course, anything could happen during Day 2 of the tournament. One thing is for sure though, a huge prize pool is up for grabs and the winner will take home stunning $922,441!

About Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen (born June 7, 1985 in Santa Monica, California) made a name for himself in the live tournament scene back in 2006 when he won 2 WSOP bracelet and finished 3rd in 2 other events. In fact, he was the youngest bracelet winner in WSOP history that year (today he's the 3rd youngest), add to that that he became the WSOP player of the year! In total, Jeff Madsen tournament winnings exceed $3,2 million, and $1,7 million of those winnings come from 16 cashes at the WSOP.

Poker is growing, and this WPT is just another example that each time more persons are beting on learning to play the game very well in order to fill confident enough to enter a tourney like this, that just achieved almost $1 million thanks to the huge field. I think that it will start to be common to see greater prizes this and next years than they were before.

If you think at all major poker live events all over the world i think wpt is growing really fast compared to others...

More and more players come to this event, many because win entries from online poker sites and also pay them since the fees are pretty accesible.

Lets hope that this edition will be really interesting as well Smile

Well explored online poker opened a great oportunity for old casinos to upgrade their activity. In Portugal, casinos only have lots of people in the summer. If they receive or sponsor events like this, and if they join themselves to this online trademarks, they have a lot to win. Better online players who never went to a casino will take this tickets they win as a first time going, and that can turn into a spreading word that can bring more public to real casinos. Its a win-win scheme to sponsor this tickets and online events, in order to have more people at real casinos.
