While Daniel Negreanu was busy claiming his fifth WSOP bracelet, Kevin Eyster kept a stranglehold on the latter stages of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. Despite being flanked by the likes of Faraz Jaka and Matt Salsberg, Eyster kept his composure and at the close of play he finished in the same position as he started.
Zo Karim moved all-in with pocket aces on a Kd5d3sTs board, Eyster made the call with KcQh before making two pair when the Qs landed on the river. That pot gave Eyster a 4:1 chip lead going into the heads-up portion of play against Ben Tarzia. A succession of small pots eventually culminated in a final break for Eyster when his AcTc overcame Tarzia's pocket sevens. After scooping the final pot, Eyster was able to put his hands on the $660,395 top prize and the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown title.
