The ex-world champion Joe Hachem, 45, has after 6 years with Team PokerStars Pro been without a contract since the end of 2011. A few days ago it became official that he signed for AsianLogic Group that owns for example Asian Poker Tour and several poker sites.

Hachem will become the ambassador for the APT and will also work as expert in strategic questions in order to develop poker in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region.

Hachem on the new sponsorship:
""I am delighted to announce that I have decided to partner with a consortium comprising the AsianLogic Group and some of their contemporaries. I will be working with the Group in several areas, initially as a new ambassador for the Asian Poker Tour to further the growth of poker and to assist them with several strategic opportunities in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region."

"After many years working extensively around the world, I made the decision that my next venture would keep me closer to home, allowing me to spend more time with my family and was something that presented me with a wider range of opportunities."

Congratulations to Joe.
I guess that after leaving the PokerstarsTeamPro get this new contract will make him see life with more 'security' (that means more $$$ in account).

Asian Poker Tour is already a big company but perhaps this bet on Joe Hachem will help it to gain visibility on the West Side of the world. And maybe Hachem can gather some friends to help making to move money around APT tables. Although they will start to center the attention in Asia and Australia, they will sure try to enter European market.

wise move joe- all the action is shifting towards asia (especially china)- this region is going to be the new leader in economy in not a very distant future- so there is a lot of potential over there. asian poker tour is not as big as some suggest, but it has a huge potential, and where is potential there is money to be made- so good luck joe and the rest who will follow soon
