WPT World Championship: Rettenmaier and Mizrachi top the field when 9 players remain

Tags: Marvin Rettenmaier, Michael Mizrachi, Steve ODwyer, WPT World Championship.
Posted on 24 May 2012 by "T".

There are now only 9 players left in the World Poker Tour World Championship after 5 days of play! But the final table is still not set as the remaining 9 players need to become 6 for Saturday's televised final table! This means that the 6 players who survive Day 6 (play starts in a few hours) will get a well-deserved off-day to gather some energy.

Right now Marvin Rettenmaier (right) is in the lead with 3,757,000 chips and his closest opponent is Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (foreground, left) with 3,124,000. Both Mizrachi and Rettenmaier have lots of chips to gamble with compared to the other 7 players, so don't be surprised if one of them takes down the whole thing!

Here are official chip counts and seating assignments for Day 6:
Seat 1.  Wil Wilkinson  -  705,000  (14 BBs)
Seat 2.  Michael Mizrachi  -  3,124,000  (62 BBs)
Seat 3.  Hafiz Khan  -  1,641,000  (32 BBs)
Seat 4.  Marvin Rettenmaier  -  3,757,000  (75 BBs)
Seat 5.  Steve O'Dwyer  -  1,643,000  (32 BBs)
Seat 6.  Nick Schulman  -  1,350,000  (27 BBs)
Seat 7.  Moon Kim  -  1,139,000  (22 BBs)
Seat 8.  Trevor Pope  -  800,000  (16 BBs)
Seat 9.  Philippe Ktorza  -  977,000  (19 BBs)

That's one solid solid table and two of the better players have the chip lead.

Mizrachi for the W?

What an incredible recover from Mizrachi, who had been in the top in an early stage and then lost a lot of terrain to the front places, but still had enough strength and knowledge to climb up till the top again. He is now undoubtedly one of the favorites to win this tourney.
