Yesterday the 43rd annual World Series of Poker started with the first gold bracelet event: Casino Employees Championship ($500 buy-in). In total, the 2012 WSOP includes 61 tournaments in all variations of poker, with buy-ins ranging from $500 to $1,000,000 (The Big One for One Drop). 480 poker tables are set up in 125,000 square feet of ballroom space at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Vegas.

New for the Main Event ($10,000 buy-in) this year is that there will be 3 starting days instead of 4, but with an extra day added for Day 2. Also, the delayed November 9 final table will be played October 28th to 30th.

Besides the Main Event, another highlight this year will, of course, be the $1,000,000 buy-in tournament named "The Big One for One Drop". Already 39 players have signed up for this amazing charity tournament, but the WSOP crew hopes and believes that the tournament will reach its 48-player cap.

Other new tournaments this year:
- $3,000 Heads-Up No Limit Hold'em/Pot Limit Omaha
- $5,000 Mix-Max No Limit Hold'em
- $2,500 Four-Handed No Limit Hold'em
- $1,500 Ante Only No Limit Hold'em
- $560 Doubles No Limit Hold'em (Exhibition)
- $560 Bracelet Bounty No Limit Hold'em (Exhibition)

Be interesting to see who wins big this year, always seems to be someone.

Juanda has been running good.

In fact I think the established pros will do a lot of damage this time.

Here we go again for another WSOP. I can still remember a year in which BRM had an excellent promo of giving mobsters the exclusive chance to run for a WSOP pack. And to win it, one just had to be first in two freerolls, after winning the ticket for the first one in the Mob Calendar. Then, the first freeroll would give the chance for those who ended it up in the first 15 places to go for the final freeroll. In the final freeroll, the first one would receive the WSOP package. That was the greatest event I ever saw BRM doing, lets see if there will be something like this for this year.

Definitely takes some balls - especially if you don't have some backup as in friends etc to fall back on.

Don't think there aren't raging donks in those events though - there's a tonne of bad play people just want to say they played a WSOP

great series, as always the re will be many new "pro's" after the series have ended, and many of current "pro's" will be kicked in the ass big time- that's poker, that's gambling in general...as for the series- great publicity, massive prize pools, great tourney variation- really one of the best series all around

FAKIRY....sounds like a really good idea for a promo. BRM should seriously consider it as a way of getting more people on the site and bringing in more revenue as well.

What about it BRM? Anything happening along these lines??
