Full Tilt Poker Manager Answers Questions About the Relaunch

Tags: black friday, doj, full tilt poker, relaunch, Shyam Markus, tax-free, u.s. government, us players.
Posted on 13 August 2012 by "T".

Last week, PokerStars' purchase of Full Tilt Poker through the Department of Justice was officially completed, which means that all non-U.S. players will be get their money back - totalling $184 million - within 90 days. In total, $225 million was transferred to the U.S. government last Thursday, and the remaining $547 million will be paid over the next 3 years.

Shyam Markus, the poker room manager at Full Tilt Poker, addressed several questions regarding the relaunch on Thursday morning - after the completion of the deal. For example: he wrote that Full Tilt Poker will be up and running within the next 90 days and that U.S. players will have to apply with the DOJ for remission...

1. When will we be able to log into the Full Tilt Software?

- We're all working hard on getting everything up and running, but we've lost a lot of great employees over the last year and there's a ton of work left to do. Now that the transaction is complete (the official closing date is today), we will definitely relaunch within the next 90 days, but we're probably looking at late October or early November.

2. Anything going to change with existing rakeback accounts?

- The decision has been left to the Marketing and Poker Room departments at Full Tilt Poker, and all of the issues will be considered before a final direction is chosen.

3. Will we be allowed screenname changes?

- At the moment there are no plans to adjust this policy, so Player IDs will not be changing.

4. What happens to all the screen names for US players? Are they recycled? Will players be forced to use them again once you re-enter the US market?

- US players will still be able to log in and play for play money, so their account details won't be changing at all. That means all the Player IDs will be kept.

5. What are your plans on handling FTP points/Ironman medals/loyalty rewards for former US players?

- Generally speaking, US players should only have cash and points in their accounts at this point (Iron Man medals were already converted to FTPs). As we now know, they will have to go through the remission process to claim the cash. I don't have an answer for what will happen to the FTPs.

6. If I'm an American player and fail to apply with the DOJ for remission, will my Full Tilt account balance remain intact if the day comes when Full Tilt is able to operate in America?

- No, you have to go through the remission process.

7. Will FTP have € accounts as well?

- We had planned on bringing out this feature (the option to keep your account balance in other currencies) last year, and we are still planning on it. I don't have any kind of timeline (it's a little difficult to see past the current 90 day deadline at the moment), but I'm confident it will happen.

8. Any plans on bringing back the Full Tilt Poker forums?

- I believe so. It's likely it won't be back up before the site itself is up and running, though.

9. What about the FTP store... I know that most of us had enough FTPs to buy stuff from there and they had some cool stuff, so was just wondering about the store as well.

- The details of exactly what will be available in the FTP store immediately on relaunch are still being worked out, but there will be a store at relaunch.

10. Will FTP open up as .eu thus making it tax-free in a country like Sweden/Finland like PS did?

- We are working on getting a .eu site up and running as soon as possible. We don't know yet if it will be ready in time for the relaunch, but it's definitely coming.

11. What about my FTOPS jacket I have been waiting on for 15 months. Any chance I will receive this in the near future?

- I hope we can clear up these kinds of issues shortly after relaunch. So maybe towards the end of the year if no other issues pop up.

12. What about FTP promotions? There were daily happy hours, 0-deposit midyear and endyear bonus on FTP, frequent rush weeks, etc. Does Stars taking over spell the likely end of promotions on FTP?

- There will still be promotions!

13. Immediately before AGCC pulled the plug, a lot of us were in the middle of clearing the mid-year bonus for which we played consistently 6 months before that.

- The mid-year bonus hadn't been awarded yet (it's based on your Iron Man participation for the first 6 months of the year, and June wasn't over when the site went down). But yes, there will be a satisfactory resolution to the mid-year bonus issue.

14. What will happen to active bonuses? I had just bought the 1.1million FTP's 5000$ bonus with about 3500$ remaining to be cleared.

- If you purchased a bonus and hadn't finished clearing it, you will be refunded your FTPs (on a pro-rated basis depending on how much was left to clear) before we relaunch.

15. What will happen regarding Full Tilt Pros?

- The Full Tilt Marketing department is working on this, and no final decisions have been made yet.

16. Will there be cool promotions like 're-deposit bonuses' to account for the long closure?

- Yes, it's safe to say you can expect some promotions right out of the gate. Of course, I hope there will be cool promotions all the time on Full Tilt Poker.

It’s good to see they are investing in clarifying all about how is it going to be from now on and when the software relaunches its activity. The doubts will be the less possible and everyone will be trusting in the service they will be using each time they enter at FT to play again. At least this is how i feel, after reading all this. But i don’t have much money to receive from there, can’t figure out how are those feeling.

Sounds like the guys on top of shit anyway.

Love the q about the jacket someone bought...lol...as if that's a pressing issue.

It's gonna be hard fot FTP to shake the muck, but i think they already have people interested again.

I will definitely apply for the remission through the DOJ, but it still sounds like there not going to allow U.S. players to play real money poker any longer.

I really hope this isn't the case, but if it is I'l start playing more live games. They opened a Casino about 45 minutes down the road and it seems to have a lot of potential.

It would be nice to get my money back from FT, but no worries. I'll still live the life I'm living without that money. getting used to not being allowed to live free in the U.S. or I should say spend my money on what I want without the government getting their cut. FOOK"EM

Hi guys!!

I´m surprised about Pokerstars. He is going to pay me my 8k$, and give me some $$ plus for my FTPs and medals (between 1k-2k$ more). Nice money that i think i never will see.

I must recognize that when the new about the buy of FTP appears, i think it was all a big strategie to kick out possible FTP news owners of the bussiness. Me was worng.

Thanks Pokerstars.

Interesting read indeed. I will for sure give FullTilt a try with this new and relieable ownership by Pokerstars. I hope they will keep their own "face" an will not be like Pokerstars 2.

I am wondering what will happen to my account as i am living in Belgium and Belgians will not be allowed to the new FT. I had a lot of FT-points and probably some cash also but not much.

On PS itselfs I can not create an account on the Belgian site due to some problems in the past.

I prefered FT

They claimed they would open for cash today (6th Nov), yet ALL COUNTRIES are well into the 6th, especially Australia, where I live. Has been the 6th for 21hrs.

Even though they are opened for Play Money and have been for about a week, they are still not open for ca$h like they said they would be. This is very, very bad for business!!!!

They have even failed to respond to an email I sent to them in regards to this. I stated that not all Countries are the same and operate different time-zones, etc... and that Australia is one of the 1st Countries in the World who experience a new day before everyone else (apart from New Zealand, Fiji and a few Islands east of there ) and that I would've liked to play in the Country-Specific Freeroll tournament that is usually on tonight (my time). I was hoping this would be available before start, but I am now forced to wait longer to play in this now, considering Australia is one of the 1st to experience a new day, yet I am made to wait longer than other Countries to play in their Country-Specific respective tournaments!

Even the home-page states 1 day to launch STILL!!!! LOL

If FT are going to treat their players like this, I am not sure I want to return. I mean, what other lies are they likely to impart to their (once loyal) customers? I have already stated that this is bad for business, by not opening for ca$h as promised players! I believe they operate on ET, but I guess they could've stated a time. At least this would lessen the anxiousness and anguish caused.

I wonder what excuse they are going to give!??

I gave Party my business tonight instead. I wonder if I will have to play at Party again tomorrow night???? LOL I would've really liked to play at FT tonight!

I Quote, "VERY BAD FOR BUSINESS!"
