On Wednesday, the organisers of the European Poker Tour announced that Vienna, Austria will replace Berlin, Germany as the sixth stop of the EPT Season 10. It was three years ago since the EPT made a stop in the capital of Austria and saw Germany's Michael Eiler winning the Main Event for €700,000 after besting a 578-strong field, including Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu on the final table.
The tournament will take place March 19-29, 2014 at The Hofburg Palace in central Vienna, and the tournament will be operated in coporation with the Concord Card Casino Group, which operates 13 poker rooms in Austria. The highlights of EPT Vienna will be a €10,300 High Roller event and a €5,300 Main Event!
"Due to a unique opportunity in Vienna, we have decided to change the location of the sixth EPT stop this year," said EPT President Edgar Stuchly. "The Hofburg Palace is a spectacular venue with a grand history, and moving the EPT there enables us to offer a great player experience. The venue can fit over 100 tables and we will be able to provide an amazing tournament schedule with a wide variety of games including cash games in the Hofburg."
