On Wednesday, Frankie Julius Parker attempted to rob a Medford bar to regain money he had lost playing video poker earlier that day. Parker, 34, returned to Rumors Karaoke Lounge just before it closed at 2:30 am and told one of the owners that he forgot his wallet inside. The women, who owns the bar together with her husband, left him waiting at the front door to search for the wallet. When she returned empty handed he forced his way inside, choked the women and demanded his money back.

Her 65-year-old husband rushed out of the kitchen, grabbed a pool cue and chased Parker away. He didn't get away with any money and the woman was not seriously injured, police said. Parker was found at about 2:50 am hiding behind a dumpster at a nearby inn and was arrested. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail on accusations of burglary, robbery, assault and strangulation.

I kind of dislike this kind of news, i mean they bring a bad influence over the poker world in general...

I mean this guy could have lost his money playing another gambling game and the result probably would have been the same.

If ANY sort of electronic poker is fixed,....I'd say it's that video poker...!

That being said,......the scumbag probably spent all his crack money on the way to score his fix,...and lost it...

Then he resorts to violence to get back his cash....???

There's a real problem with those video poker machines here in North America. Don't know if they have them over in Europe...

The speed of play can be adjusted so they can drain your wallet in short order...and it's especially bad when governments depend on THEIR cut....

Bad stuff period! Thumbs Down

In this case he wasn't even playing poker, he was playing video poker which is just a slot machine that looks like a poker game.. Instead of different pictures on reels lining up, you have to up you get dealt poker hands.. but you don't actually "play poker".

I'd rather in a news story like this, they just called it "slots" instead of "video poker" because it's a pretty negative and invalid association.

Loosing at a game with money involved can turn people desperate. I have a friend that already broke 3 laptops because of losing when playing poker. But i also watched him winning 3 times in a row at $300 HU (it didn't took more than 10 min to play the three games!!!).
