Maduka Meragal As soon as the partypoker WPT UK Main Event was about to finish this weekend, the 2014 partypoker WPT Montreal Main Event kicked off in Canada. The tournament attracted 732 players and the final 49 players will return today for Day 3. Out in front is Maduka Meragal with 1,423,000 in chips - about 350k more than Marc-Andre Ladocuer in second place.

There are three WPT Champions Club members left in the competition: Antonio Esfandiari, Andy Frankenberger and Harry Arutyunyan. Notables who won't return today but cashed in Day 2 included Pail Volpe (90th), Elliot Smith (78th), Mike Mcdonald (74th), Darren Elias (69th).

Now, all the remaining players are guaranteed to walk away with $8,930 each. However, nobody will probably be happy with that amount given that the top prize is $409,656! We'll be back with another update tomorrow morning!

That is an excellent amount of money for the winner of this tournament, over two million dollars but with a field of over seven hundred players it is going to be a very deserving win for whoever manages to win.
I like to watch Antonio Esfandiari play poker, very entertaining and charismatic, his brooding good looks are no bad thing either!Though preferably I would like to see a newcomer win the top prize, always good to let the money get shared around instead of going to the big names all the time.
