17 players made it through Day 4 of the 2014 PokerStars EPT Grand Final Main Event. The plan was to play down from the 41 remaining players to the final two tables, but apparently five 90-minute levels of play were not enough to do so.
Kenny Hicks, who popped the money bubble on Day 3, will lead the remaining field into Day 5 with a stack of 2,499,000 (over 700k ahead of his closest opponent). Hicks could partly thank the poker gods for bagging up such a healthy stack. He was dealt pocket jacks late in the night and flopped trips against another deep-stacked opponent's pocket kings, and the rest is history, as they say.
In case you read our update on Day 3 yesterday, you might wonder what happened to Team PokerStars Pros David Williams and Ville Whalbeck and Day 3 chip leader Malte Moennig? Well, only Germany's Moennig made survived the day (1,45m). Wahlbeck was sent packing in 26th place (€36,700) and Williams followed shortly after (24th - €36,700).
