21-year-old student/trainee

Hi to all of you Mobsters. First I'd like to introduce myself a little bit.

My name is Kevin, I'm from Germany and I'm 21 years old (the latter is not hard to find out due to profile info's Big Smile).

In real life I'm a student/trainee and want to become an Educator some day (very hard, takes 5 years in total for that in my region, I've only just finished first year now).

I'm not sure about how it's over there, but it's becoming a more and more popular job for men over here, and I love working with children.

I have a wonderful girlfriend for almost 2 years now and love spending time with her, with friends and my family. Having people around you is the key in life in my opinion to achieve whatever you want in every aspect.

For this blog I'd mainly like to stick to Poker, but if anything exciting outside of that comes up it will also be part of this blog.

So pokerwise I can probably fill much more than the following, but I'll try to keep it not so overfilled.

When I turned 18 I started off playing FL cash games with an initial 50€ deposit. I started grinding $0.10/$0.20 FL cash games and quickly grinded up to $0.50/$1 in a short period of time.

After black friday the games got tougher and I couldn't beat that stake anymore.
I was always hooked with MTTs, the chance get get max. reward with minimum investment. Because I had no real clue about how to play MTTs, I decided to look for help.
I had the chance to get taught by probably one of the best SNG/MTT players online, Supernove Elite and playing hyper turbo 6 max SNGs up to $1000 buy in.

After a few good runs (4th in a $5.10 hyper turbo for $470, a few more FTs at $1-$3 tourneys and 2 top 100 finishes at the Sunday Storm) I wanted to get the max. amount of $s for my time invested.
I transitioned to SNGs with his help, and quickly fell in love.
I started grinding the $3.50 18 mans, and within a span of 2 months I climbed up to the $15s.

At the start of 2012 I decided to play a few MTTs again, and BOOM, right in my first session I 3-way-chopped the $27 KO for about $3K.
This gave me a good bankroll to safely grind the mid-stakes SNGs.

Unfortunately the games got very tough, more regs joining the games, so I needed help to improve again.
So I got a coaching deal from another player, also SNE and playing high-stakes SNGs.
Immature as I was I have lost the opportunity I had later on.

Overall I can say that I've picked up a good load of knowledge over the years, but improving your game to become successful in this game has a lot to do with discipline, hard work and studying.

Starting early 2013 something tough got into my life - slots.
I don't want to make a long story off of that, but I have lost loads of money since then playing slots, they got me hooked just a little too much.
Since then my poker career was going down slowly as well, because all poker profits (and more) was "invested" in this shit.

I am by now still playing here and then and go to the casino with a friend, but only playing minimum bet for fun.

I want to use this blog as motivation to recover in my poker career and hopefully climb up the stakes again in the following months. A big goal of mine would be going for supernova 2015, although this seems unrealistic at the moment.

I was close to it in 2012, having 80K VPPs in august but then not having been able to find a new staking deal for some time, that opportunity had passed (I finished with 93K VPPs I believe).

I also want to use this blog to show you guys that it's already possible to make a side income from poker at the lowest stakes.

My bankroll is sitting at $166.33 right now (started fresh with $150 2 days ago) and I'm currently grinding a variety of $1.50 non turbo games. Especially the $1.50 9 man KOs seem to be the most profitable option for me right now, seeing regs that I'd consider as semi-bad beat them at 25% ROI.

With similar results (I don't think I will get a much higher ROI than them seeing I play more tables than them) I should be able to get a hourly rate of $8-$10 (or playing 2 sets of 30 games per day... well, you can get the idea).

You can expect a lot of content in this blog - with every blog post I would like to cover one topic about poker (or maybe a very interesting hand that occurs).
Here is your opportunity to help this blog being active - post in the comments what topic you would like to see a detailed post about (i.E. Multi-tabling, Volume, Luck vs. Skill in Poker, Hand Ranges etc. etc. etc.), I will try to cover as many as I can over time.

I intend to blog at least once per week, hopefully twice some weeks.

If I have forgotten anything important feel free to ask anything you want to know and I will cover that in my next post.

In the meantime I wish all of you Mobsters good luck at the tables! Smile

Glad you decided to jump aboard the blog train... I'm sure a lot of Mobsters will be able to pick up some very useful tips from you.

I too kind of started to blog as a motivational tool for myself more than anything else... plus, I genuinely feel that I, like you, have knowledge and experience that can help out others.

Looking forward to the next blog Thumbs Up
