The final table of the first ever EPT Malta Main Event is getting closer and closer as only 23 players out of 895 entries remain after four thrilling days of play. Czech Republic's Antonin Duda will bring the biggest stack (3.4 million) into the the fifth day.
Duda, who has close to $300,00 in live tournament earnings, will be joined by the likes of Day 3 chip leader Javier Gomez Zapatero (qualifed via a €250 satellite), Swedish poker pro Robin Yitalo, PokerStars Pro Dominik Panka, and another 19 players who should be proud of themselves for making it this far.
The remaining players are all guaranteed to take home €23,200 when the tournament resumes at noon local time. According to PokerStars Blog, the tournament is slightly behind schedule as Main Events many times are down to 16 by this stage. In other words, Day 5 might be a very long day because it needs to end with final table of eight players.
chip counts:

We are down to the last twenty three players but, to be honest with you, i do not recognise any of them. It would be nice for the satellite qualifier to go on and win the whole thing
Dominik Panka is winner of Main Event PCA 2014, Hossein Ensan is 3. in Main event of EPT Barcelona 2014. Antonín duda is 16. Czech Republic All Time Money List with 1 161 623$ and he has lot of experience with this type of live tournaments.
Lots of lesser known players but a few who I have seen before like Ylitalo and Panka who has had a very good year and one player who is maybe not so well known outside the UK but an old school player called Carlo Citrone who has been around for ever and is one of the more colourful characters.
Antonin Duda never heard of him bu then again , that's the beauty of poker anyone can take the chip-lead or win a tournament 23 left out of 895 entries now the tight play begins , everybody want that big money jump when you make it to the final-table good luck to the players , i would start watching when it get to the final table if anyone interested , this tournament is streaming in pokerstars
Dominik Panka has a lot to defend at this event, being one of the last big names sponsored around. He is way behind in the rank, he needs to work a bit if he wants to go to the final table.
It looks like Dominic Panka ran out of steam at the final hurdle and was knocked out in 3rd place but he was always chasing the pack and at one one point was among the short stacks so winning $347k is pretty good.
------------ Well done to Carlo Citrone who managed to finish in 12th place for close to 50k.Even though this put his live tournament winnings to over a million this was one of his biggest wins.Good to see one of the old school players doing well against all the young kids for a change.
Duda, Holz, Ensan, Zapatero, Montury, Messina, Aido, Ylitalo, Schillhabel, Zindel, Citrone, Kaj Smit, Panka, Kovtunov, Volkmann. Sounds like a C-list James Bond Villain Gallery to me, how awesome would be if the producers get a hold of this list and make them IRL.
