Former Pro Wins $50k On Jeopardy

Alex Jacob was a rising star in the poker world around 2007. The 30-year-old American has just about $2.6 million in live tournament earnings to date, with his last cash being a 182nd finish for $2,217 in a NLHE event at the 2012 World Series of Poker.

Although we aren't so sure just how much he plays these days, we do know that he has won almost $50,000 on two episodes (Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13) of TV game show Jeopardy.

Jacob, who was presented as a currency trader from Chicago, Illinois, defeated depending champion Chris Hurt and Laura Kohlberg in the episode last Friday for $23,090 in prize money. On Monday, he took on two new opponents and pulled off another big win.

After his two victories his winnings were at $49,600. A lot less money than his poker career-best of $878,500, but if his winning streak on Jeopardy continues he should have a nice bankroll for this summer's World Series of Poker (if he chooses to participate that is) where some serious cash is up for grabs.

What a great story this is and many congratulations to him on doing this. After winning all that money in Poker, it must be great to have a chance on winning more money doing this

I have never seen this program before so not really sure how it works but I think he can continue coming back to earn more money until defeated, hopefully he will use his gambling experience to know when his luck has gone and it is time to leave the table.

I doubt that he still has that much money from his former poker carrier if he is need to go and play Jeopardy on National Television. And currency trading is not a sure thing or a job with security, so he is probably a bit broke now IMO. Especially if he's got caught up in the swiss frank mumbo-jumbo early this year.

ahahaha

I read this news on other pokersite, here in portugal, and its not one, or two, he win 3 or 4 times in a row and make a good profit in that game, beside the game and money, he knew a lot of the questions and a lot of things in that quizz.

Gongratulations for her and he keep playing safe.

Quizgames and especially televised quiz games are just like this though. Getting in is actually plenty harder than getting through. And I think Jeopardy is a real special one because the players have to from questions to the answers here and not vice versa. It's tricky.
