Jeopardy! Champion James Holzhauer has made his WSOP debut this Monday in Las Vegas.
A pro sports gambler for over a decade, Holzhauer played in two events at the Rio Convention Center:
Event #56: $1,500 No-Limit-Hold'em Super Turbo Bounty
Event #57: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold'em (with Mike Sexton as his partner)
Both events were scheduled on June 24, Monday.
Holzhauer said, "I decided to enter because [Poker Hall of Famer] Mike Sexton contacted me and offered to sponsor my buy-ins. I don't have any plans to enter another WSOP event beyond those two. I played online poker semi-professionally in the early 2000s, but I don't intend to make a career of it now, as I'm sure I wouldn't be good enough at it to justify forgoing other opportunities."

James Holzhauer, age 35, is a professional sports gambler from Las Vegas who won over $2.5 million on the 
Alex Jacob's winning streak on Jeopardy! came to an end on Monday. It was the former poker pro's seventh appearance on the popular game show and he ended up in second place after answering incorrectly ("What is twitter?") in the final clue "This social media company launched in October 2010; in 2012, with about a dozen employees and no revenue, it sold for $1 billion." - the correct answer was "what is Instagram?"
Alex Jacob was a rising star in the poker world around 2007. The 30-year-old American has just about $2.6 million in live tournament earnings to date, with his last cash being a 182nd finish for $2,217 in a NLHE event at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
