The first day of the National Championship kicked off on Wednesday at Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina. At the end of registration, 122 players had entered the tournament, including defending champion Dominik Nitsche, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, and 14-time WSOP winner Phil Hellmuth.
Hellmuth's dreams of a 15th bracelet came to an end shortly after the dinner break, but both Nitsche (90,800) and Negreanu (93,400) were among the 49 players who remained at the end of Day 1. During the last break of the night, Daniel Negreanu was interview by WSOP staff. Check out the video below to find out what he's been up to since his 11th place finish in the 2015 WSOP Main Event.

Daniel Negreanu is on a decent run at the moment,a shame Hellmuth did not stay in the tournament as it would be good to see them both reaching a final table.I think he will get more bracelets to his name and he is definitely a player I like to see do well.
Negreanu is always on a decent run - I used to search for him on Sundays in the PS client just wanting 2 see him playing the big online tournaments one at a time. Used to be fun, especially reading on the live chat what his 'groupies' are wrote about/for him. He will never going to run out of supporters.
