The final episode of the Super High Roller Celebrity Shootout, an invite online freeroll that was played in June, aired on U.S. television last Wednesday. Five poker professionals (Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu and Vanessa Selbst) played against each other at one table while five celebrities (Hank Azaria, Kevin Pollak, Don Cheadle, Brad Garrett and Norm Macdonald) did the same at another table. The last survior from each table then played heads-up (best of 3 matches) for a $1 million first-place prize.
To sum things up quickly, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst defeated Kevin Pollak, an American actor and comedian, rather easy with a 2-0 win. Selbst, the only female participant in the tournament, now has over $11.5 million in tournament earnings, which puts her on top on the Female Poker Player money list. In addition, she is also the only female poker player to be in 1st position on the Global Poker Index.
"Vanessa is a great example of how fascinating poker players are," said Clint Stinchcomb, CEO of Poker Central, which hosted the MILLION AT SUPER HIGH ROLLER CELEBRITY SHOOTOUT. "The stories behind the players are just as interesting as their play. Poker's popularity, with players and fans alike, crosses all ages and demographics."
