The World Poker Tour Choctaw Main Event in Durant, Oklahoma, drew a large field of 1,175 players, which boosted the original $2 million guarantee with almost the double.

There were several interesting names on the final table, including Darren Elias going for his third WPT title in a year, WPT Champions Club member Andy Hwand going for his second WPT title, and Mina Greco attempting to become the first woman to win an open buy-in WPT Main Tour event.

Chip counts when the cards got into the air on the final table:

Seat 1. Alex Lynskey - 5,925,000 (74 bb)
Seat 2. Andy Hwang - 10,935,000 (137 bb)
Seat 3. Darren Elias - 8,130,000 (102 bb)
Seat 4. Jason Brin - 2,390,000 (30 bb)
Seat 5. Mina Greco - 2,220,000 (28 bb)
Seat 6. Jake Schindler - 5,675,000 (71 bb)

At the end of it all, however, none of the experienced/well-known finalist remained... instead it was WPT rookie Jason Brin (second smallest stack in the beginning of the final table) who stood tall as the winner! Brin, a 42-year-old carpet storeowner from De Soto, Kansas, received $682,975 in prize money and a seat into the season-ending WPT Championship for his victory. It was his first-ever WPT event, but for sure not his last one!

Final Table Results:

1st: Jason Brin - $682,975

2nd: Andy Hwang - $468,105

3rd: Darren Elias - $303,593

4th: Jake Schindler - $224,913

5th: Mina Greco - $167,691

6th: Alex Lynskey - $135,504

well it just proves again and again that poker is so much about luck vs skill (at least short term). think about this- dude comes into final table with 2nd smallest stack, is playing against more experienced players and playing in his 1st ever wpt event to add to the nerves, yet still he manages to win... fcuk poker, i better stick with red/black.

A good win for the rookie,I know the top players always try and win the tourney but sometimes I think when it gets to the final table you should be playing the guys who are happy to ladder or are inexperienced with a bit more caution.
