Another day of play concluded last night on Paradise Island, and amazingly enough Brazil's Leonardo Pires finished as the chip leader for a third consecutive day! Pires will lead the 19 remaining players into Day 5 with a stack worth more than 4.5 million or 187 big blinds! That's about twice the stack size of his closets opponent!
Now, you might wonder who is this guy? Well, according to PCA reporters, Pires comes from the city of Belo Horizonte (the 6th largest in Brazil) and is a regular Omaha cash game player. After recently winning a casino tournament in Uruguay for $50,000, he decided to give poker tournaments a shot.
A wise decision to say the least, because no matter what happens next he's guaranteed to take home $32,360. Howevever, we are pretty confident that he will make it to the final table and secure a six-figure payday (the winner gets $833,260).
