In a recent event, Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation gave an opportunity for both poker players and enthusiasts to play poker with two Hollywood celebrities. In a bid to raise funds for their environmental research program, the foundation hosted an auction with one of the prices being a poker date with Ed Norton and Jonah Hill.
Both DiCaprio and Norton have been seen in events like the WSOP and were subjects of a book on Hollywood home games. Norton's performance in the movie Rounders made his poker skills known in the community. In fact, among celebrity players, Norton is easily alongside Ben Affleck in terms of poker skills. With this in mind, a game at the felt with Norton will surely be a night to remember.
A poker action with celebrity actor Ed Norton is the price in DiCaprio's foundation auction as he is undoubtedly a serious poker player. Jonah Hill's participation in the game is still not clear.
Although there may be a big difference in skills between the Norton and Hill, the two still offered their services for the benefit of the foundation.
The chance to play poker with poker professionals along with two celebrities was an "unbelievable opportunity" as decribed by Simon De Pury, the official auctioneer of the event. It was not only a chance to rub shoulders with two celebrities, but also a chance to improve their poker skills.
The registered winning bet of $121,300 was from a lone bidder who found the lot to be attractive enough. The unknown bidder clearly wants a chance to test their poker skills, meet with the actors, and give money for a good cause. They are now setting a date for the showdown.
The charity auction raised $45 million which the foundation will use to fund environmental projects around the world.
