2017 Aussie Millions: Robert Raymond Wins Event #1

The first event of the 2017 Aussie Millions saw Melbourne's Robert Raymond best a field of 1,565 entries to grab the title and AUD$320,830 in prize money. When the final table was down to four handed-play, Raymond only had 1.64 million in chips and was the short stack against against Qiang Fu (3.7 million), Alex Lynskey (4.95 million), and Michael Addamo (5.4 million).

Raymond refused to give up, though. He fought hard and well to build a healthy stack. Eventually, he made it to heads-up and defeated New Zealand's Qiang Fu to lay hands on the title and the biggest payday of his poker career! In total, 153 players cashed in this AUD$1,500 buy-in event, which had a prize pool of AUD$1,604,125.

Final table results:

1 Robert Raymond, Australia, AUD$320,830
2 Qiang Fu, New Zealand, AUD$198,115
3 Michael Addamo, Australia, AUD$117,910
4 Alexander Lynskey, Australia, AUD$85,180
5 Manis Loeser, England, AUD$57,750
6 Jack Efaraimo, New Zealand, AUD$41,705
7 Samir Khoueis, Australia, AUD$35,290

My warmest congratulations go out to Robert Raymond from Australia on winning the opening event of 2017 Aussie Millions. It was probably his best live cash in his career. Well done to all the final tablists, too.

Why would a shortstack give up on a final table? Don't even understand that part of the article... Thats when he need to make it or break it, he obviously made it so I am happy for this guy. Nice job Big Smile This is almost a quarter of a million worth US dollaridos...

time flies so quick that I even forgot that the annually January Aussie Millions was about to start, it's one of my favorite events with WPT and WSOP... and can't wait for the super high roller event. Damn playing poker in the Aussie is such a damn good feeling alongside the Bahamas right? Big Smile
