Yet another first bracelet moment for an aspiring poker player just happened at the 2018 WSOP Event #22 $1,500 Eight Game Mix. Philip Long outlasted a field of 481 players to win his first-ever live tournament title and of course, his first WSOP gold bracelet.
The 29-year-old poker pro managed to stay strong until the end amidst a tough final table that included the likes of 2017 $10,000 Dealer's Choice event champ John Racener and six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, thus acquiring the first-place prize money worth $147,348.
The final two players were between Kevin Malis and Philip Long. In the Razz game, the final hands were: Milas: (6-3)J-7-Q-3(8); Long: (Q-2)A-6-5-3(2)
Long made a six-five low to claim the title and the pot, whereas Milas had to settle for second place in this event.
Long said that the comfort he felt in all games was the biggest factor that led to his victory, "It's an unusual thing when you have the eight-game mix. I think you're always trying to be aware of what people think about the different games and what they think about you in the different games. Sometimes, some people are really confident in some games and weak in the others, and sometimes they think you're bad at certain games. I didn't feel that bad in anything and I think that was my main strength."
