The 2018 WSOP Event #36 $1,000 Super Seniors NLHE has been won by Farhintaj Bonyadi, who managed to outlast a player field of 2,191 players, claiming her very first gold bracelet and taking home with her a nice sum of $311,451.

Farhintaj is the 83-year-old mother of three-time bracelet winner Farzad Bonyadi, and thanks to her winning this event, they have now become the first-ever mother and son tandem to win WSOP titles.

Farhintaj said after she won, "It's just only my first bracelet. "I'm so happy. My son has three. I'm just so happy."

Her son Farzad taught her how to play poker, and he was present there on the rail when she won the event for the biggest title of her poker career, "I was standing there for 20 hours trying to help her out, but she did it on her own. I'm so happy for her. She deserves it. She's been cashing so many times. She won a tournament for $50,000, for $45,000, but this is her biggest score."

Farhintaj entered the final table of the event in 7th place in chips. She knocked off Paul Lee in 3rd place to enter a heads-up match against Robert Beach at a 3-to-1 chip disadvantage. When the play was stopped at the end of day 3, Beach furthered his lead to a 4.5-to-1 chip advantage.

Despite the odds, Farhintaj kept on going. The two battled it out for 175 hands of heads-up play. She was able to rise back up into the lead by the time the final hand was dealt.

What a fantastic story to read and it must have been a very emotional time when she realised she had won the whole thing. To become the first mother son combination to win bracelets is some feat indeed

that's really very cool .... and the mother and son won the bracelets ..... a real poker dynasty .... only my father failed .... here if even my father won the bracelet then it would be a full house ... .full house bracelets ..... interesting news ..... maybe the father has not said his word .... maybe

I can not believe that. A 83-year old woman won an tournament with 2191 players. I have not heard about this woman. Farhintaj Bonyadi is regular at live tournaments or she learned this game from her boy because she did a sensational thing for her age. Congratulations to this lady for his performance.

Well done for her winning the tournament at her age.
But looking at the picture on this thread, i have asked myself more than once.
Is this the right picture?
Does she look to you for someone being 83 years old?

Wow! $311,451! Huge congratulations to Farhintaj Bonyadi for winning the $1,000 buy-in Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em tournament. Farhintaj looks pretty good for her age. Her family and friends must be so happy!
