The excitement gets higher as each day passes by at the 2018 WSOP Main Event, because as more and more players get eliminated, then the more difficult it is for the remaining ones to stay afloat in the hopes of finally winning that coveted Main Event championship bracelet as well as the humongous first-place prize money worth more than $8.8 million!

Let's take a look at what happened during July 14 Saturday in Event #65: $10,000 NLHE Main Event - World Championship of the 2018 WSOP at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

With a buy-in of $10,000 and the player entries reaching 7,874 in total, the entire prizepool built up $74,015,600, with the last man standing to get the lion's share of a whopping $8.8 million!

Day 10 of the Main Event was won by John Cynn, a 33-year-old poker player who finished 11th place in the 2016 WSOP Main Event, earning $650,000 as consolation prize for almost getting in to the final table. It just took him two years to significantly improve his finish and ultimately take down poker's most prestigious event this summer.

Cynn said after the event, "Feels very different. I mean really neither is supposed to happen. To make 11th is insane on its own, and to win, that's literally something that you dream of but you just never expect to happen. Right now I do feel pretty overwhelmed."

He added, "I do like to think that I don't need the money to be happy, but at the same time it's practically going to make things a lot easier. Things I want to do in life, things for my family, and my parents. To my parents this is money that they could have never imagined. It'll definitely be life-changing."

The final hand was played just before 5 a.m. local time on Sunday morning. It took 10 hours of heads-up play to determine a winner between Tony Miles and John Cynn:

According to a google search the biggest prize for the first place in a tournament,
was on 2012 for a 18 millions win: by antonio esfandiari.
We are talking about a huge prize. The game was "The Big One for One Drop"

These two people who stayed at the table heads up, played 10 hours for this difference of 3,8 millions dolars. You can make the difference to see what does it mean to be a good player at high stakes. The top 7 players were Americans and shows once again where this game was invented.

I wouldn't complain if I had won that prize pool. It's really life changing money, but I guess for these poker pros, it's just a normal pay day. I wish I was that good but I'll just have to acceot that I'm at least good enough to make a profit, even tho it's not as big as I would have wanted it to be.

just to be in prize pool, its grea money!ofcourse buy in for this kind of tournament is very big,so probably somebody from this forum would need to win this package at some promotion,to be able to play on it!cant imagine what feel is it to play with so many players and on such a famous tournament!

erru9107 even for a professional poker player it is not a normal day to earn so much money. This is about millions of dollars. No poker player on this planet earns so much money in every day. You are crazy men. Is too much, is huge.

The truth that if it is a beautiful prize that this man has taken ... and I think as I call it is not small the boat that was taken with that victory, it would be nicer I would say hahaha hopefully donate me some Tongue Tongue Tongue

Well yeah, but it's not unheared of that poker pros win a few million in a day so it's not too unusual. That being said, 8.8 million is a huge sum of money, even for a WSOP Main Event.
 Calmplay29/07/2018 16:54:37 GMT
But this huge amount of money a high stakes poke pro can earn it in a couple of months/less than a year. Yes for sure unsual to win it in a day but very doable to win it a I just mentioned...

Very well done John, it is now a life changing stuff for you but I hope it will only have a positive impact only for the rest of your life.
 CALICUL29/07/2018 22:35:09 GMT
It is very difficult to earn such a sum in a few months Calmplay. Daniel Negreanu won in approximate 28 years 39 millions and 500 k dollars. To win 8 millions and 800 k dollars it's not easier. The awards have grown nowadays but very few players succeed this thing. Even a million dollars can be earned hard if there are no high-prize tournaments. However, there are many big annual tournaments and is very good for professional players.

Belated congratulations to John Cynn on winning the 2018 WSOP main event and scooping $8.8 million! I have tried to find this year's WSOP main event episodes and final table live streams on PokerTube and YouTube, but they are nowhere to be found. That's disappointing.
