One of the events featured at this year's WPT UK, the $1M GTD Devilfish Cup, ran from September 30 to October 2 with a buy-in of $5,300, and an online poker tournament specialist was crowned the champ of this event, who took home the trophy plus a whopping $250,000 cash prize.
WPT UK 2019
- Event: Devilfish Cup
- Schedule: September 30 to October 2, 2019
- Buy-in: $5000 + $300
- Prize pool: $1M guaranteed
- Entries: 209
A total of 209 players joined in on the
Devilfish Cup event, which ensured that the $1 million guarantee was hit. All of the players' $300 tournament fees were donated to charity, which meant that they have successfully raised over $62,000 for good causes.
There were several aspiring Team partypoker ambassadors who participated in this event too, but none were able to make it in the money. Some of them were: four-time boxing world champ Carl Froch, Bruno Fitoussi, Bertrand Grospellier, Roberto Romanello, Charlie Godwin, Padraig Parkinson, Marcel Luske, Ludovic Geilich, Sam Trickett, and even partypoker managing director Tom Waters.
When it was down to the final two players, they struck a deal that secured $200,000 for each of them, leaving an extra $50,000 for the eventual winner.
The final hand:
Siddle held 10-3
Trigg had 8-6
The board ran out J-10-8-8-5, which gave Trigg triple eights for the win.
