A total of 22,300 players spread across two dozen tournaments joined in at 888poker's 2019 God of the Arena (PKO) Series, and the prize money awarded reached to $1,170,087!

God of the Arena PKO Series

  • Duration: From November 10 to 17, 2019
  • Tournaments: 24
  • Highlight: $320 buy-in $300,000 GTD Main Event on November 17, 2019

Scheduled from November 10 to 17, 888poker held its yearly "God of the Arena" Progressive Knockout (PKO) Series, composed of 24 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $8.80 up to $320 and has over $1 million in guaranteed prize pools.

The series did not have any repeat winners. Many champions coming from various countries were made in this series. Among the countries to claim titles were Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malta, Russia, Thailand and Ukraine.

Brazilians capture most titles
During the PKO series, Brazilian players had won 25% of the events. They went off to a great start when "GoldoJuninho" outlasted a 794-entry field to win Event #1: $150,000 9-Max for $26,618.54.

Other Brazil representatives brought home the gold on four consecutive tournaments:

  • "MARIMBONDO1" won $16.50 buy-in Event #11: $20,000 Mini 8-Max (1,577 entries) for $3,242.52
  • "YetiCara" won $33 buy-in Event #12: $10,000 Late 8-Max (514 entries) for $2,644.88
  • "pvss10" won $109 buy-in Event #13: $30,000 9-Max (384 entries) for $7,906.56
  • "Ednaldo5" won $16.50 buy-in Event #14: $20,000 Mini 9-Max (1,405 entries) for $3,243.35

The last to bring home the bacon for Brazil was when "batistafaell" won against a 1,032-entry field on Event #17: $15,000 Mini Freezeout for $2,349.21.

Russian wins PKO Series Main Event for $42,792
The $320 buy-in PKO Series Main Event exceeded its $300,000 GTD by attracting 847 players, who then rebought 203 times, thereby creating a $315,000 prize pool that was split equally between the regular and bounty prize pools.

The top 108 players were in the money and some of those who made deep runs were "alexos888" (35th for $661.50 + $1,340.64 in bounties), "EyeofSkadi" (20th for $756 + $2,191.41 in bounties), "2MuchBluffBG" (12th for $1,701 + $2,966.01 in bounties), "Madeon1994" (8th for $3,480.75 + $3,283.01 in bounties), "TrollKonst8" (4th for $11,497.50 + $4,659.20 in bounties), and "Dedwa789" (3rd for $15,356.25 + $1,450.78 in bounties).

The tournament ended after 13 hours and 10 minutes, with Russian player "pokanuktus" defeating "BreakYANeck9" to win the title for a $28,507.50 top prize and $14,284.93 progressive bounty, which totals to a whopping $42,792.43! Truly an incredible return for just a $320 investment.

Even though Brazilians have a very hot climate, they concentrate very well on poker tournaments and these players managed to earn impressive amounts of money, in online poker rooms. They have a good game science and a lot of luck, which often makes them winners.

my impression is that the game of Brazilian players is rather ambiguous .... sometimes there are players who play competently and professionally .... but a very large number of players from Brazil play absolutely Crazy games with cards that are not at all favorite .... and as a result, they it turns out somehow to win .... maybe they are just lucky people from this country Confused

Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile Argentina is located close to Brazil geographically .... so it seems to me that your mentality is a bit similar ... apparently that's why you have such distributions of cards ... Well, of course it depends more on the character of the player himself .... you need to be more restrained and does not seek to make attempts to trick the system with a garbage hand ... sometimes of course this happens but with a long game it’s a loss

I do not know what to say, but their luck is very high. It is good that this series was successful and 888 Poker manages to maintain a result, when they organize a series. I could not play many satellites for this and i did not qualify for tournaments, but maybe next time it will be better.

Perhaps you only look at productive players ?? ... but there are a huge number of other Brazilian players who play absolutely wrong and are unlucky when they go with a trash hand against some serious cards .... you just don’t pay attention to it .... and pay attention to interesting Victories .... maybe that's why you have such thoughts?

Brazil has many good players but sometimes there are bots. In every poker room exist something like this and it is necessary for major tournaments, when they reach the final table, to be supervised. I think it's fair play, because there are many moderators to do it.

I don't know the truth that makes me bad when em happens and it has happened to me quite a few times I don't know how many I have not started to count them but surely they would not reach me even if I had 100 hands with 20 fingers in each one lol I have been playing for a few years and who knows how many I've lost as well as layers many others like Sad Sad Sad
 Mober24/11/2019 12:31:10 GMT
Not a surprise that they did so well.
They are organizing very big and successful tournaments for too long now Smile
They have what it takes for that.
The prize for the first place was a very good one for the buy in it had.
A great payday for the winner.

Great series, have no idea why the brazilians took home 25% of the whole prizepool but maybe this kind of format is fairing better with them on the long run - similarly how scandinavians like heads-up tournies or most players from the UK plays PLO frequently.
 CALICUL27/11/2019 21:21:03 GMT
The brazilians took home 25% because they won a few tournaments in this series. I don't know what these gamblers are doing, but they are very lucky. A fantastic luck... I'm a little paranoid here and too often i'm right. If i had half from the cards they receive, i would be rich...
 pajalnick27/11/2019 21:52:57 GMT
it seems to me that the player’s nationality does not matter at all when playing poker .... but the fact that Brazilians took 25% of the winnings is nothing more than a coincidence of which there are quite a lot in the poker world ... Therefore, you don’t need to think that some nation has an advantage in the game of poker ... in football, the Brazilians are of course gods but not in poker
