The Triton Poker Series Jeju Main Event has been won by Timothy Adams after he outlasted a player field of 38, winning the prize amount considered to be currently his biggest score ever in poker.
Before this tournament, the Canadian poker pro hasn't yet made a signature win in a six-figure buy-in event. This all changed when he defeated Bryn Kenney in heads-up play to win the HK$2 Million (US$254,779) buy-in Triton Poker Jeju NLHE Main Event (Event #6), taking home the title and the cash prize worth HK$27,760,500 (US$3.54 million).
This amount is the biggest score of his career to date, instantly dwarfing the $1,009,965 he won in 3rd place at a super high roller event of the Asia Championship of Poker in 2017. Thanks to this massive win, his live tournament earnings jumped to over $14.1 million. He is currently in 39th place on the All Time Money List.
The final showdown was between Bryn Kenney and Timothy Adams, with both having almost even chip counts. Even though Kenney's 6.31 million was significantly bigger than Adams' 5.69 million, the two of them decided to undergo a deal, leaving HK$4 million on the table and lock up on the following amounts:
Bryn Kenney: HK$24,039,500
Timothy Adams: HK$23,760,500
As the two started to play for the title and the remaining cash prize left on the table, their stacks were still notably big that most expected would go on for a while, but it looked like Lady Luck had other plans and made things in favor of Adams.
The final hand:
Timothy Adams had 8-5
Bryn Kenney got A-4
The board ran 4-3-4-5-5. While Kenney's hand was better at the start, better after the flop and turn, the last card though had favored Adams, and so the Canadian poker pro won in the end. Kenney muttered, "That's the nastiest run-out I've ever seen."
Adams said after he won, "I've been playing against Bryn since I was 19 or something, and now I'm 32. We've tons of experience, he's an amazing player. To win, it feels amazing. I obviously had to run very, very good, as I think most people have to win a poker tournament. I'm thrilled that it's me."
