wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference. All in pre flop, or regular play, it would have ended up the same.

Just a cooling hand.

Considering that you raised 3x the big blind, his only mistake was not raising your bet but in the end, by raising you, basically you would have raise and it would have ended up with an all-in situation, so your example is a poor one in regards to raising a big hand like AA or KK...there is so much information missing, were you being aggressive previous to this hand, was he passive, he really didn't play the hand poorly, aside from to raising you, but again, the outcome would have been the same, an all-in situation

Nice first post, welcome to the forums Smile

Totally agree with this. An argument could be made that villain should have shown more aggression, but his line is just as valid the way it was played. I don't think villain really made a bad move post flop, given the texture of the board and the strength of his hand, you don't really want to get in a big pot with just a pair. On the river, pretty much any draw missed so it's fine to get stacks in at that point.

On both ends, I think hand was pretty standard.

A little curious, why is there 10 chip antes in only the 6th level of blinds?

you cannot say you should never slow play kings, you can slow play kings, jack and even 38o Big Smile the point here is that word NEVER should NEVER be used Shock also can slow play and win- that's fact and therefore you just have to accept that you lost. maybe next time you will win and what- r u gonna create a thread saying "this is why you should always slow play pocket kings"

You were only worried about a set of 4s. On stars it could have been anything. But more realistically he could have had j10, a set of 3's , a set of 8's, a set of j's, or a set of 10's. Why a set of 4's?

I believe it does matter which way one plays pocket A's, K's or Q's, but it just matters which way is best for a particular hand. In some cases Allin may provoke someone into calling you or it may scare one into folding.
I guess with KK or QQ it's all a matter if there's an A on the flop. Way I see it, anyone with an A in their hand is going to play (most cases). So if there's an A on the flop your already in a situation unless you get fortunate enough to hit another K or Q. This is only an opinion and I don't know much about poker statistics.

I do not think in this case it has so much relevance to be honest, i mean mos of the time you would have lose that hand...

I think the secret to play kings is to bet hard preflop but if you see a A on a dry flop you need to be more careful.

Im sorry but should i listen to some internet micro grinder who spends all day trying to gather as many freeroll passwords as he can or respected pros who have made millions of dollars online and live who advocate you never slowplay pocket kings? Please give an answer because i am interested and please provide your merits as to why these pros are wrong in a post which is comprehendable as you could be on to something here.

Also i will take it that you will continue to spam the forums just to reach your 5 post a day cap so you can make mob points. I know you come from Lithuania where the average wage is a $1 an hour and dial up 56kb internet is all you can afford and you kind of need the money so maybe i should not be so harsh. However, please at least try to contribute things which are remotely useful to the site. Big Smile

And there you go again aggressively putting people down, acting just like the testosterone fueled teenager you obviously are. It is possible to disagree with someone without having to be a cock you know. If you speak to people you disagree with in real life like that you'll end up getting hurt.

For what it's worth I think you're right and slow playing kings is a bad idea but you really don't need to be such a d**k about it. It just makes you look like a total twat.

------------
Just noticed I say cock and twat without getting censored but can't say d!ck. That's crazy d!ck's a proper noun for crying out loud. Confused

Redvulture, if you call your thread "why you should never slow play pocket kings" I expect to see a hand history showing KK been beaten by 72 in the big blind or something of the like, not losing to a hand that it was behind the whole time, and slow playing or otherwise wouldn't have changed a thing.

A couple more points... firstly, he didn't REALLY slow play them. It was a raised pot.... it's a perfectly reasonable tactic (not one I'd use admittedly) to smooth call with pocket kings hoping for no ace on the flop... but that doesn't constitute a slow play.

Secondly, why is the guy an idiot? For getting his chips in with just an over-pair to the board? You did EXACTLY the same thing. If you swap the hands over - KK to you and AA for him you would have played it exactly the same, and lost. The outcome doesn't make him an idiot.

Oh im so scared such an internet tough guy you are. Aggression? I was actually laughing at this idiots stupidity while posting. And besides if you tried to do anything like that in the real world i guarantee you will be the one crying in the end and not me.

Me a tough guy? absolutely not. I'm just trying to give you the friendly advice that you obviously need.
Why do you take my warning as a threat? I'm half a planet away you fool, obviously I didn't mean me, I'm not threatening you. I'm Just saying if this is the way you act in real life then your early years into adulthood are likely to be rather rocky.

When I was a kid I actually did behave like you in real life. man was that dumb. I didn't get physically hurt which was more good luck than anything else but I'm sure it held me back in life for many years. what I finally realised in the end was, it doesn't matter how right you are, if you're behaving like a condescending prick and belittling people they don't have any respect for you and won't take you seriously.

Don't know why I'm bothering really no petulant teenager has ever taken advice from an adult. I know I never did but I certainly wish I had.

Anyway I'm done with you, obvious troll and not a particularly clever ever one either.

In this particular case with such a flop i dont think anyone holding KK could get out of it, including you.
If u were the one losing with KK the title would be: Dont overplay pocket kings lol
