Yes and no, there's no explicit 'rakeback' as per the old 27% flat RB that was offered. However - there's an implicit rakeback scheme, similar to what is offered at Stars: As you progress higher into the VIP levels, you'll be rewarded more and more for the rake you pay.. I'm not exactly sure on the details, but basically the same as Stars: If you're a high-volume player, you'll get an equivalent that is better than 27%, but for low-volume / casual players, you'll definitely be worse off.

In last months promo at silver level you have a rakeback of 1cent per point, which got credited back to your account every friday. I guess it can only be higher at higher vip levels.

I totally agree on rake, in fact i remind back in the day i had the 27% rakeback deal on full tilt poker that cash that you recieved friday for the week meant many times the difference between a losing week and a profitable week!

Know for those that play at higher limits the VIP system is better but for beginner the 27% rakeback deal was much, much better.

Absolutely right. A good rakbeack deal can make the difference. Especially for low limit players like me who will never reach a high VIP level.
Unfortunately a lot of sites are cancelling rakeback deals like FT and Carbon / Merge.
So its getting harder...

And yes, I do think rake is too expensive, the game is damn-near unbeatable. We'd have a lot less rigtards moaning on the forum, that is for sure, if rake was significantly lowered.

------------
I made a thread a couple years back regarding rake actually:

http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&id...

Thanks for the link, i did read that thread back then, I was just wondering, if MTTs would be relatively better in terms of rake.

Pochui actually made a good point also, about rebuy tournaments being better value. It has always surprised me that the rebuys and add-ons are not raked, and yet players seem to like them less...

That's correct; they call it "cashback" though, and is equates to 10% for Silver level.
At the moment, I can't even maintain Bronze level, at the stakes I'm playing...

+1. oh and yeah the lowest rake u get is for mtt's- especially if you play rebuy ones, cause every rebuy u make is not raked at all- it inflates the prize-pool & deflates the overall rake imo

While rebuys lowers your rake it also lowers your ROI on any prize money as your intial investment increases than your rebuys boosts the prize pool.

G'day mate

Well I would say that cash games are only too expensive when I am losing. Smile
I think they are just fine whenever I am winning money on them.
Just like when I am winning poker is NOT rigged at all.
If I am losing money then maybe it is Lol Smile
I am just kidding.

be cool and best of luck.

Your %rakeback, winnings and skill will tell you if cash games are too expensive for you. I think with 20$ your only option is to play micro buy-in tournaments(heads-ups,..) or at the cashgame tables that have max 0.05/0.1 big blinds...Micro levels Smile

Yes, they definitely are, simply because you can achieve a much higher ROI% on MTTs, for example, mine fluctuates 80-90% ROI, most people earning from high-volume SNGs I believe would have an ROI closer to 10%.

That said, MTT has it's own issue, which is: Trying to achieve a similar hourly. With SNGs your ROI might be significantly lower, but you can but in a huge volume to grind-out a good hourly rate. MTTs you can definitely get a much higher (sustainable) ROI, but you also can't play such huge volumes.. Even if you're multi tabling as many as you can, there are only ever so many MTTs running for your given stake, even on a site like Stars.
