This year at the WSOP, Phil Galfond now has a total of three bracelets to his name, after he won Event #60: $10,000 PLO Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship which had a player field of 237 entrants. Along with the bracelet and the title, he took home the first-place cash prize worth a whopping $567,788.

A very prominent online high-stakes cash player known as "OMGClayAiken", Galfond has put a lot of time playing on the felt, but playing a PLO 8-or-better tournament was still quite new to him.

He said after he won, "I've basically never played PLO8 online. There is a mix game I've been playing live for two and a half years, 12 games, and one of them is PLO8. So, I've played a little bit. Honestly, I don't think it helped me very much. So, I was figuring out as I went. I think I definitely ended the tournament a better tournament PLO8 player than I started."

Galfond, who has been very busy the past couple of years launching a poker website and has recently announced a new addition to his family, earned his first bracelet in 2008 at the $5,000 PLO event, winning $817,781. His second bracelet was when he won the 2015 $10,000 No-limit 2-7 Lowball event for $224,383.

The 33-year-old from Maryland now has almost $2.9 million earned from live tournament wins.

He battled the chip leader Michael McKenna for his 3rd bracelet win.

Congratulations to Phil Galfond on winning his third bracelet. When he says that he hasn't played much of this discipline it shows what a truly fantastic player he is by winning the whole thing

Godoy, if you have not heard of Phil Galfond you can beat his name on google to find out more details about this professional poker player. To get to the final tables is not easy, but for the exceptional players with skills and brain there are more chances. Anyway, congratulate him for this performance.

Could be that higher buy-in tournies are not attrackting foreigners that much esp. if they only travelled to Vegas 4 the WSOP then 10k could provide buy-in for a lots of other tournies not just this one so they rather diversify...
