On Wednesday, the organisers of the European Poker Tour announced that Vienna, Austria will replace Berlin, Germany as the sixth stop of the EPT Season 10. It was three years ago since the EPT made a stop in the capital of Austria and saw Germany's Michael Eiler winning the Main Event for €700,000 after besting a 578-strong field, including Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu on the final table.

EPT Vienna: Daniel Negreanu didn't last all the way (4th place)

Posted on 01 November 2010 by "T".

Daniel Negreanu, the canadian Team PokerStars Pro, had a big chip lead when the final table of the EPT Vienna Main Event began yesterday. He didn't only have the chance of taking down his first EPT Title and €700k - but also to regain the top spot on the all-time money list which he recently lost to Phil Ivey. But Daniel's dream was crushed after 10 hours of play and he ended up in 4th place.

After Daniel was out of the game it stood clear that an relatively unknown player would become the EPT Vienna Champ. It ended up being 20 year old Michael "mae9690" Eiler, an economics student and PokerStars Sunday Million winner, who took care of the first place prize of €700,000.

EPT Vienna: 80 players remain - Daniel Negreanu is in the lead!

Posted on 29 October 2010 by "T".

278 of 587 players survived Day 1 a and b and returned to play Day 2 of the EPT Vienna Main Event yesterday. At the end of the day 80 players remained, all of them are in the money, guaranteed at least €8,000 each but of course everyone is aiming for the first prize of €700,000!

In the lead is no one else than the canadian poker guru Daniel Negreanu with a 893,000 stack. This will of course make the tournament super interesting to follow from now on. The chip leader from Day 2, the Londoner Laurance Houghton, fell out of the field in no-time after he lost two all ins with pocket pairs vs higher pocket pairs.

Another player who was sent packing during Day 2 was Tom "durrrr" Dwan. For a while, after he had boosted his stack from 60k to 160k, it almost looked like Tom Dwan would be one of the players who made it to Day 3 of the tournament, but unfortunately he lost two coinflip all ins and shortly after he went out with A2 vs Stavros Kalfas' AJ. Dwan has not cashed in an EPT event since 2005.
