2015 WSOP Main Event: Negreanu Eliminated in 11th Place ($526,778)

Tags: Daniel Negreanu
Posted on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 by "T".

Hand #119:

Joe McKeehen raised to 800,000 on the button and Daniel Negreanu called. The flop came out A[d]K[c]10[d] and Negreanu checked. McKeehen bet 700,000 and Negreanu moved all in for 5.8 million. McKeehen, with over 50 million in chips, called.

Negreanu tabled A[s]4[d] (top pair) and McKeehen J[d]3[d] (straight and flush draw). The 3[h] on the turn gave McKeehen further outs. Negreanu now needed to dodge diamonds, Queens, Jacks, and threes in order to take home the pot and stay alive in the tournament.

The dealer burned another card and dealt the river: Q[h], giving McKeehen a straight and the pot. Daniel Negreanu received $526,000 for his 11th place finish. Close, but no cigar. Negreanu will be missed by many of his fans on this year's final table.

Update:

Daniel Negreanu thanks everyone for all the support

Posted on Friday, October 25, 2013 by "M".

dnNone other than maple syrup lover Daniel Negreanu was the last man standing in the WSOPE High Roller event which concluded today after three days of intense battle. The first place gave Negreanu €725,000 in prize money and yet another WSOP bracelet (his sixth WSOP bracelet in total).

The High Roller final table kicked off with Negreanu dead last which he explained to WSOP.com: "I honestly felt like I was going to win [the event] the whole time," Negreanu admitted.  "The thing was I played the Main Event earlier and I sat with 10-15 big blinds the whole tournament. I was fighting it, but I ended up getting knocked out 25th. Then I thought to myself, 'Eight big blinds? How are they gonna knock me out again?' And once I doubled up and was at about 20 [big blinds]...once I was back in the mix and I doubled up again, I saw the faces, I saw the people looking around. I could sense it and I felt like, here it is, my opportunity to win this thing".

The heads-up between Negreanu and Nicolau Villa-Lobos reached its deciding moment when Villa-Lobos went all in holding a pocket of 5's  ( [5d] [5c] ) while Negreanu called and showed a pocket of J's ([Jd] [Js] ).
The flop: [Qd] [9h] [2d]
The turn: [Kd]
The river: [3c]

The WSOPE High Roller top 8 finishers:
1st: Daniel Negreanu – Canada - €725,000
2nd: Nicolau Villa-Lobo – Brazil - €450,000
