The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said that Tiger Woods' Genesis GV80 rolled over, crashed and sustained major damage at 7:12am PT on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.
He was conscious and stable when he was extracted from the car.
The cause of the accident, which happened as Woods was going north on Hawthorne Boulevard at Blackhorse Road, is still under investigation. Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that accidents are quite common there due to the downhill slopes and curves on the road. He said, "Thankfully, the interior was more or less intact, which gave him the cushion to survive. Otherwise, it would have been a fatal crash."
Woods was the driver and the only occupant inside the car. He was then brought to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, reportedly with injuries to both legs. Mark Steinberg, his agent, said Tuesday afternoon that Woods needed emergency surgery for multiple leg injuries.
One of the first responders to the scene, Sheriff's Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, told reporters that Woods wasn't able to stand on his own but he was lucid and able to hold a conversation. Gonzalez noticed that Woods was wearing his seat belt. He said, "I will say that it's very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive, because this is an accident-prone stretch of road. We've seen a number of accidents on this stretch of roadway."
In a statement released by his team via Twitter on Tuesday night, Tiger Woods was "awake, responsive and recovering in his hospital room," after having a rod put into his leg during surgery. He "suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity" that were treated in emergency surgery, said chief medical officer and interim CEO at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Anish Mahajan.
The rod was put inside his tibia to stabilize fractures, while screws and pins were used to stabilize injuries to his foot and ankle.
Tiger Woods is considered to be one of the greatest golf players in history. The 45-year-old has won 82 tournaments, tied for the most in a career with Sam Snead, and he has won 15 major championships, second only to Jack Nicklaus.
His last tournament title was at the 2019 Zozo Championship in Japan. His most recent major victory was at the 2019 Masters.

I think the alcohol is out of the question. Cause of that accident was fatigue or inattention. All Tiger Woods has to do is for confirm exactly what was there, and in future to create a lighter schedule. t's not normal to take risks like that.
