It was 35-year-old Francois Letexier from France who was assigned as the referee for the final of the 17th UEFA European Championship. The youngest referee to take charge of a men's European Championship final, Letexier was teamed up with fellow compatriots, Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni as assistant referees, while Szymon Marciniak (Poland) will be fourth official. The video assistant referee (VAR) role has been assigned to Jérôme Brisard (France), assisted by Willy Delajod (France) and supported by Massimiliano Irrati (Italy). Tomasz Listkiewicz (Poland) completes the line-up as assistant reserve referee.
Fans exuded an excited atmosphere inside Olympiastadion before kickoff. The match started at 8pm local time / BST (7pm UTC), under a sunny weather. Spain played in red shirts, while England played in white shirts.
Nico Williams, one of Spain's breakout players at the tournament - gave La Roja the lead minutes into the second half when he smartly finished in the lower corner from a perfectly-weighted pass from the team's other emerging star, newly turned 17-year-old Lamine Yamal.
England equalized midway through the second half via a brilliantly placed left-footed effort from Cole Palmer from outside the box to restore parity at the Olympiastadion.
With only under five minutes remaining in regulation time, Spain took a late lead when Mikel Oyarzabal tapped home an inch-perfect pass from Marc Cucurella to cap off a victory and a splendid tournament for La Roja.

With the Euro 2024 victory, Spain has now become the only national team to win four European Championship titles, having previously won in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
As for England, they have become the first nation in UEFA European Championship history to lose consecutive finals, having been beaten by Italy on penalties at Euro 2020 and then Spain.
