A 63-year old woman was attacked by a male suspect while walking to her vehicle after having spent the evening at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway. The woman told police she was leaving the compound at around 9:45pm. The male suspect approached her upon entering the parking area, according to reports by Dayton police.
The report states that the suspect attempted to grab the woman's purse to steal it. However, the woman refused to let go of her purse and got dragged by the suspect across the parking lot, resulting in some injuries.
The suspect ran away when the content of the purse spilled on the ground. The attack was caught on CCTV. The police have identified 24-year-old Nathan Griffith as the suspect of the robbery.
The suspect managed to flee as the call for help went in at 10pm. Dayton police were on the scene and the elderly woman told authorities that she had won "a little money." Police were able to identify Griffith because he used his driver's license to obtain a player's card inside the casino.
The suspect is now in custody as he turned himself in in front of Montgomery County Jail. One count of robbery has been filed against Nathan Griffith, according to Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office.
