It's high time to take a look at the high stakes results of 2011. The Scandinavian poker players dominated the nosebleed tables at PokerStars. In fact, 3 of the top 4 players of 2011 come from Finland and Sweden. Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, from Sweden, won amazing $1.5 million and ended up as the third biggest winner. Most of Blom's winnings come from December.

It seems there's something in that particular area that transforms local players, in general most play very well, and gus hansen as always appearing among the best all year.

wonder what is up with those scandinavian players - they do seem to look calm and collected, but it seems there is a big gambling spirit burning inside ....lmao...and seriously author forgot to mention that there were more and a lot bigger winners at full tilt- the guys who created this ponzi scheme...they cashed in a lot more than pesky few $millions imo

These players are very good high stakes players and also money is no problem for them, countries like Sweden and Finland have a high economic standard. These are wealthy countries.

Blom did it well in the last month of 2011. When I first read this title I was like “how can this be?”. We have read so many bad results from him during this last weeks that I never thought this would be possible. We are talking about big amounts as of losses as of winnings, but doing enough in a month to enter in the Top 3 of the best winners of an entire year, this means playing real high values… and winning! If things have always gone well for Blom during the year, he would be in the top of this rank with a difference of more than 10x for the second!

This is true.. However, Blom wasn't losing before the last month either.. If you subtract Dec from the equation, he was still +400K for the year, which by any of our standards is still a monster score.
