Penguins team scope: Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) practiced Wednesday but there is no timetable for his return. "Marc is being monitored by our medical staff very closely and a team of doctors," coach Mike Sullivan said. "And so when Marc's ready to play, we will let everyone know." Matt Murray likely will start. Forward Conor Sheary took a maintenance day for the second consecutive day but is expected to play. "He's got some bumps and bruises," Sullivan said. "And our medical staff felt it was best to keep him off the ice."
Capitals team scope: Defenseman Karl Alzner took a second maintenance day but Washington coach Barry Trotz said he is fine and expects him to play. Defenseman Brooks Orpik practiced for the second straight day but has not been cleared to play. "Obviously, he's skating with us, so we'd consider him day-to-day unless I get an update," Trotz said. "He's progressing or otherwise he wouldn't be out there. He's getting close."

Blues team scope: Forward Scottie Upshall was the lone regular who did not participate in practice Wednesday before St. Louis departed for Dallas. Hitchcock said Upshall is fine and is expected to be in the lineup. "Other than Upshall, who needed one more maintenance day, we're 100 percent and good to go," Hitchcock said. The Blues are expected to use the lineup that defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7. "We knocked the rust off," Hitchcock said. "We had good tempo. Execution was to be expected with two days off, but we got our 50 minutes in and we'll take that and get that pregame skate in tomorrow and we'll be ready to go."
Stars team scope: Dallas right wing Tyler Seguin will miss at least the first two games against the Blues with a lower-body injury. Seguin, who sustained a partially cut Achilles tendon in his left foot on March 17, played in Game 2 of the first round against the Wild but has not played, nor skated, since. Ruff said he wasn't sure when Seguin might start skating. "I really can't [say]," Ruff said. "I don't even have a guesstimate on it. I don't even think it'd be fair if I guessed and if I'm off, everybody else will be wondering, why did he guess that?" Center Jason Spezza did not skate Thursday, but Ruff said it was for a family matter and he will be ready to play.

Penguins team scope: Sheary and Bryan Rust did not participate in Pittsburgh's optional practice Friday, but are expected to play in Game 2. Chris Kunitz was hit in the face by a puck in Game 1 and is day-to-day, according to Sullivan. "There wasn't a lot of time to react the way the puck came to the bench really quick there," Sullivan said. "Hopefully Chris is going to be OK. We think he will be."
Capitals team scope: Washington had an optional practice. After defenseman Dmitry Orlov was benched for most of Game 1, his status for Game 2 could be in question. "Every player wants to play," Orlov said. "I don't know what's going to happen right now, but I hope that I will play."

Blues team scope: St. Louis could insert forward Ryan Reaves into the lineup. Reaves hasn't played since Game 2 against the Blackhawks. Left wing Scottie Upshall was the lone skater not to take part in practice Saturday. Hitchcock said Upshall took a maintenance day and "he'll continue to be maintenance right throughout this series." Reaves was playing fourth-line right wing in place of Steve Ott, who was part of the extra forwards at practice. "All available assets are at our disposal," Hitchcock said. "Let me put it this way: We do not have an injury that would prevent me from making a decision."
Stars team scope: Dallas will be without right wing Patrick Eaves, who coach Lindy Ruff said is day-to-day with a foot injury. Eaves was hit by a point shot from teammate Stephen Johns in the third period of Game 1 and did not return. Eaves did not skate Saturday and was at the practice facility on crutches. Ruff said forward Valeri Nichushkin will play. "Yeah, nothing serious, just a real bad shot [Eaves] took to the leg and should be just day-to-day," Ruff said. "I know it always look serious, but it's all part of the recouping process. ... by the looks of things, I would say questionable unless it comes around, but it's awfully sore." Center Tyler Seguin (Achilles) is out for Game 2. The Stars recalled forwards Brett Ritchie and Curtis McKenzie from Texas of the American Hockey League.

Capitals team scope: Washington will be without defenseman Brooks Orpik, who was suspended three games by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Sunday for a hit to the head of Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta 4:13 into the first period of Game 2. Orpik was penalized for interference on the play. "We've got guys who can fill his role," Winnik said before the suspension was announced. "Who knows what's going to happen for him, but I'm sure everyone's planning for him to not be in the lineup." Defenseman Dmitry Orlov was scratched in Game 2 after a lapse led to a goal from Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy in Game 1, tying the game 1-1. Former Pittsburgh defenseman Taylor Chorney replaced Orlov on Saturday and played 10:50 across 19 shifts. Orlov could play in place of Orpik.
Penguins team scope: Maatta likely will not play Monday. Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said Maatta was evaluated Sunday but did not update his status. "I don't have a lot of sense of his availability," Sullivan said. "I'm probably not optimistic, though." Sullivan did not specify which defenseman would replace Maatta if he were unable to play. Defensemen Justin Schultz and Derrick Pouliot are Pittsburgh's two potential options with Schultz the likely choice. "You don't like to see guys go down, but I think we have the guys in here to step up and fill that hole," Schultz said. "Hopefully Olli's OK, but if he has to miss time, me or [Pouliot] will be ready." Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) continues to practice, but his status remains unknown. Goalie Matt Murray, 4-1 in the playoffs, will likely start a sixth consecutive game on Monday. Murray made 23 saves in Pittsburgh's 2-1 Game 2 win.
