He has you well covered.
He has a high pocket pair.
He knows you are now desperate for chips and therefore likely to shove with any two cards
He has put in 6k and can win 97k for calling another 30k.. what better odds do you want..

yes it ssick, but then again, PP v PP there is always a risk they will hit the set.

You should quit poker before you get a really bad beat Blink

   0
Under pairs sometimes hit a set, really bad but not a tragedy.
You should be happy to get called by an underdog with your QQ. Being busted out with a bad beat is the daily routine of a MTT pro, get used to it.

Having a strong starting hand busted is all too common. After you see it happen a couple of hundred times, the shock value wears off. Once that happens, tilting becomes less of an issue and rational thought prevails.

Well Actually he has to put 36K more to win 54K, not 97k. 1.58:1 odds so he needed an equity of 39% to make his move EV+, what I don't think he had with pocket 9's against my push range.

EDIT: Does the sentence: "I just keep triying to win ..." make any sense???? I think my English was awful there Big Smile

Your calculations are wrong Plexo.

You raise 37166 to 43166.

The prize for him to call: 37166.

Total pot if he calls:

43166+43166 = 86332

86332+6000(deadmoney)+3000(blinds)= 95332

So the prize is 37166 to win 95332

Needed equity to make the call:

37166/95332 = 0,389

0,389*100 = 38,9%

That's unlucky, not really that bad tbh, u still had redraw outs with Q's and J's, all you can really do is move on to the next tourney & hope your on the better end of variance of next time.
Also, until you've played on PKR.... then you have no IDDDDDEA what bad beats are LOL Made a deposit there 2 days ago, first hand on 10NL, i flop a set of 6's & improve to a boat on the turn, i get it all in vs KQ (he hit trip kings).... river is yup.... a Q lol. Couple of hands later, i catch the nut str8 on the turn holding AJ.... all the money goes in, villain shows a set of 6's..... guess what the river is... yup, the miracle 1 outer Shock Thumbs Down It's all good, just went back to my other sites! Tongue

Just keep playing dude! Thumbs Up

If you play tourneys, you must expect something like this happening. You will win 80% of hands with QQ vs 99, not 100%

Unfortunately I agree.
I ask myself how can a player be able to do his calculation quickly after 4 hours playing.
Maybe the answer is that I won't ever be a pro but I think it's difficult and, even with a lower pair, the winner is a really good player.
Don't worry Plexo, next time will be your time Blink

Hi.

Unlucky, badbeats happens. Nothing to do. Just relax and try another time.

Bye and aces for all!!

   0
i belive that is no match in poll answer!
is just poker, sometimes in not enought to belive that ur good, and all the other player must go away.
no ofence for ur quality as poker player, but luck or unluck is part of the game.
Smile

I believe he called you because he was the chipleader and you were desperate to gain some chips, He probably thought you had a weak ace. better luck next time Blink

I am still awaiting my first tournament win, but it will probably never happen, but if I can keep finishing in the money then so be it. Maybe one day who knows, wont lose sleep if I dont.

@Plexo

Sorry think I missread your post, did the calculation and forgot to comment.

Im not a tour player but with his stack in this spot I would probably call too. You could have so many over card combi's and even some under pairs in your range. Against all the overcards you could have he has got 50%+ equity, against the few under pairs 80% and 20% equity the few times you got TT+...as now.
