Posted by schmoyster: This story has nothing to do with this thread http://www.bankrollmob.com/forum.asp?mode=thread&id... Here is the story. My wife has an account on Full Tilt, which she opened with NDB from a different site. The NDB was 50 $. She didn't play often but managed to increase her bankroll to 119 $. Last month she didn't play at all and suddenly she receives a letter from Full Tilt. Something like: "Your password was changed. If you didn't do it inform us immediately".Several minutes later she receives the similar letter from the NDB site. She tries to login into both with her password and of course the password doesn't work. She figures that the accounts are hacked and writes to both sites to freeze them. The NDB site didn't answer to her letter yet (three days passed). But Full Tilt was prompt: they froze the account and asked my wife for an ID to reinstall her access to the poker room. I told my wife to say farewell to her money but when Full Tilt provided the new temporary password and she managed to login into the room, she found that her bankroll now is 405 $. So, hacker won 286 $ for her!!! Here is my version of what happened. Hacker gained access to her account. Found money on it but didn't find immediate solution of how to cashout or transfer it. So, he decided to donk it away. But instead he won. After that he decided to secure the account for himself to find the way to cashout later. So, he changed the password. Full Tilt informed my wife about password change and the account was frozen before hacker could withdraw. Now there is an awkward situation with hacker's winnings. My wife is a pathologically honest person and she doesn't feel right about having this 286 $. She didn't win it, after all. Full Tilt also is in no position to confiscate this amount as it wasn't gained through cheating. Those people that this money come from shouldn't be reimbursed either, because they lost it in a fair game (to hacker). Hacker can't have it either. His identity is unknown and, after all, he broke the law. Full Tilt knows about this situation but didn't come up with any suggestion. What do you think should happen to this money and who should have it?
Great job from the hacker!!!

ITS HERS DUDE RULES OR NOT THEY wont come an take it back she got hacked not her fault but thems why would she pay for they fault keep it spend give it invest it do what ever she wants with it
I don't believe that Hacking is isolated just to FTP, but they seem to be having the most problems right now. A couple of things to do t prevent being hacked again would be :
1. Completely wipe your computer (virus' are a bitch, especially keystroke viruses) 2.Update your firwall and get a better antivirus program. 3. Change your password(s) 4. Download an encrypted safe to keep sensitive files and folders in. Make sure the password to the safe is different from the one u use @ FTP. MyWinLocker has a good program( supposed to have a similar level of encryption as American Gov't agencies like FBI or IRS). And the basic version id free.
As for the extra money in the account, the honest thing to do would to leave it in the account for at least 1 month and try to get a solid answer out of FTP as to what to do with it. If they don't want to take it back, then get them to say it.

I'd say if your wife feels really guilty about the money then just donate it to the people of haiti. You can email FTP and they will do any transfers for you and sort it out
A little update. It turned out that hacker won a little bit more than I posted above. Actually it is 341$ +2,5$ rekeback. I just crave to see hand history. Still waiting from Full Tilt. My wife offered Full Tilt to either return money to players or she can buy in into some charity tournaments. The problem is they don't have charity tournaments with a buy-in that large.
As for security suggestions of psycokiller... Her computer is well protected. I am not a novice in computer security. And then it is her notebook that she also uses for her work in a large financial istitution. Their computer security guys regularly check her computer for vulnerabilities. It is 99 % that it was not her computer that was hacked but either her FT account or NDB site account. I'll keep you informed on the developments.

Hello! If the story is true as said SuperNooB. You should take this money as a compensation for the stress and prejudice. And could donate it to Haiti if she can't let this on her account. A+

lol
However it was done, here are my thoughts: (and great story by the way!)
Full Tilt will prefer NOT to check hand histories etc. and refund each player (there could be LOTS!). They don't need more bad publicity of this kind because they've had quite a bit lately, and don't want to "freak out" the losing players who will never trust FT again maybe.
Your wife deserves a commendation for being so honest, I mean that, I wish there were more people like her in the world, we'd be living in Paradise. Really.
recommendation: 1. Give the money to Haiti victims as many posters suggest here. 2. Obviously she can play, so let her build up her bankroll and MOVE to a caribbean country when you have enough. 3. Give some to the Haiti fund, and take the rest to buy yourself a nice little present. (You deserve it after all this stressing over the matter, really!)
I would suggest 3. You will be doing a good deed, and you deserve something nice for being such a nice person.
Don' t worry about the 'losers', they lost the money fair and square, even if someone else played them. It will harm them more if they get the feeling they've been cheated (which they weren't, they just played bad poker and lost to another player. That's poker.
Here is an update. This story is true (for those who doubt it). Here is a fragment of Full Tilt e-mail regarding of what to do with hacker's winnings.
"Regarding the money won by the hacker, it is our stance that these funds are legitimate as they were won in legitimate hands against legitimate players. Remember that your money was also at stake in these hands and it is very rare that a compromised account is left with a greater balance! As such, the funds will remain in your account and you are free to do with them as you wish. I believe that your suggestion regarding the Aid for Haiti fund is very noble and generous. Should you wish to contribute some or all of these funds to this cause, please send a player transfer to "Aid For Haiti". Any donation you make will be matched by Full Tilt Poker and donated to the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and UNICEF."
We received hand history and I will have a look at it and if there are some interesting hands I will post them here.
------------ Ok. I watched the hand history with Universal Replayer. Hacker played only one sit & go (90 hands altogether) with buy-in 100 + 9 $. So he virtually put all my wife's money at stake. And won it. What can I say? He knows the basics of poker but definitely not a good player. He was playing loose as hell, what is understandable, as he was not playing with his own money. He is a luckbox. I will posta couple of hands.

------------ After Full Tilt confirmed that the winnings are legitimate my wife decided to do with the money as follows: a) 100 $ will go directly to the Full Tilt fund Aid to Haiti b) She will play three charity tournaments today: $20 + $20 byu-in at 13:35 ET, $14 + $12 byu-in at 16:00 ET and $50 + $50 byu-in at 17:00 ET. She wants to use this unexpected opportunity to play against the best Full Tilt pros, who are definitely going to play at least in the last one. c) The rest (about 75 $) she will keep for herself as a compension for her account being hacked.
End of story.
