depends on how the hand was played preflop... but id say pop it... call.... if you lose then you know you lost with the best hand preflop.

i have a norm to play big pairs:

if im in early, i just call the BB if i know someone will raise.
raise if the table is tight.

in MP, i always RAISE, like in late, any re-raise, i re-raise again, if there is a re-raise and i have AA, i move all in, but if i have KK i fold.

I used to get myself in so much trouble with pocket pairs...lol. Of course it depends on the situation if in a tourn and how high are the blinds and position. but i usually will only bet three times the big blind until i see a flop. i used to always go all in and it would usually end in disaster.

I also see this all the time. A big pair, and a strait comes on the table. And the turn is the next card, so a guy with like K5 hits his straight with the 5. Depending how many players there are in the pot, 3-4 BB:s

Its just part of playing poker, it does happen all the time. thats why you bet enough preflop to hopefully isolate. It really depends on the player you are up against. But usually i would have to fold with a flush or straight possible.
